Learn Electric Guitar Quickly
Quick To The point Way to Learn electric guitar
At the beginning you will just want to get comfortable with the basics chords and the progression. All that means is getting comfortable with the chords themselves and creating your own harmony by playing them one after another.

The important part of learning guitar is making sure that you stick with it. Taking it up one day then leaving it for a week or so doesn't really help at all. You have to develop habits while playing and that takes repetition.
The second thing you will want to do once your reasonably comfortable playing the basic guitar chords is to grab a free internet tab to any song that you like. Then just learn how to play along with it. This will help you put a timing on the guitar and learn to count and focus on two things at once.
The next step is to learn different strumming patterns. In order to get a template for this I recommend justinguitar.org. This will allow you to adapt different styles and techniques to the chords, that by this time, you are probably getting pretty bored of playing. It will allow you to switch up and adapt new tunes to the basic chords.
One thing you'll notice as you start to get more and more into playing guitar is that most popular songs aren't very complicated at all, they simply have different timing and different instruments playing the accents.
Once you have completed all three of these steps in due time...I'd say about 1-2 months and you are comfortable with it, time to move on to learning the theory behind the music. Adapt some of your new found skills with some foundation of music. This way you will understand why certain notes are played next to certain notes on occasion and why it works. You will also be able to read a little bit of sheet music...not tabs.
The reason I don't recommend continuously learning on tabs is that they are very limited and boring. They leave very little up to the imagination and they do not require you to think only learn...like a little monkey. Do you like being a monkey? I don't.
So, this ends this section of learning electric or acoustic guitar and we'll move onto the next phase. Keep in mind you shouldn't read the next phase until you are well into 2 months of practice.
