Buckyballs & Neocubes - Hours of Fun

Have you heard of the latest, greatest Buckyballs & Neocube craze? These little magnetic balls will challenge everyone. They are small magnetic spheres that can be shaped and reshaped into countless different forms. Form it into a cube, or jewelry, make a pyramid, triangles, the options are endless. As with all magnets, each ball has two poles, one side will attract, the other will repel. This will both help and frustrate you as you play with the balls and create different sculptures, puzzles and patterns. Neocubes and Buckyballs are surprisingly strong for their size, and thus better suited to older children and adults, rather than young children. Neocubes and Buckyballs make a great, unique gift !

What is the difference between Neocubes and Buckyballs

Which is better, Neocubes or Buckyballs?

Neocubes and Buckyballs are very similar in size, construction, and strength. They are both made in China, from neodymium material and have nickel coating. The surface is protected by a strong, shiny surface with anti-bacterial properties which is very important for protection. Neocubes are slightly smaller than the 5mm Buckyballs, but only by a mere 0.23mm. Smaller magnet balls will be slightly harder to work with, however, they will provide a more compact pattern. Buckyballs come with a nice orange carrying case; Neocubes come with spare balls, and both come with an instruction manual. So the choice is your:, do you want a nice carrying case, or extra balls, or do you simply want the cheapest version? You'll have fun with either kind.

Buckyballs Make a Great Present

Neocubes are popular gift ideas

My daughter received a package of Buckyballs for Christmas, and was instantly a fan. She had never seen them before, but quickly learned how to make the big cube and then went online and learned how to use triangles to make a variety of other 3D shapes. She clips them together and then just as you see one shape appear, she deftly flips it around to make another shape. Within two weeks my other daughter used some money she was given at Christmas to buy herself a tin on Buckyballs. Then my son did the same thing, so now each of my children have their own set, and they love to challenge each other to see who can make the most interesting shape, or who can do certain shapes the fastest. The Buckyballs and Neocubes have now become a favorite birthday present idea for their friends.

It's not limited to older kids either... my husband and I both get intrigued and end up borrowing them to see what we can create. Bucky Balls make a fun, unique gift for anyone who likes a challenge, or could use a little desk toy!
