Examples of Tithing
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means "king of righteousness"; then also, "king of Salem" means "king of peace." Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever. Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the LORD, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it. Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun-blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair. The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. They also brought spices and olive oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. - I practice New Testament giving as motivated by the Holy Spirit without a number or an amount and not necessarily to a church building but maybe a person, a prisoner, a homeless person, a widow. The best message I ever heard on giving was preached by Zac Poonen. I think you would like him and his preaching. Bless you!

- Great article on tithing. I've been doing this now for close to 2 months donating 10% of my check to the children's hospital and I can say that good has only come out of it. Thank you for the great article!

- I would go one step further. Lets put it like this; you gotta give back to the world if you are a decent person. I doubt there is much argument about that. Question is; how much? One you put it that way, isn't the Biblical Tenth the obvious starting point?
