Book Review
Stacey is becoming the Mistress of the Western Romance genre of fiction, in my humble little opinion and her latest novel does not disappoint. A Haunted Twist Of Fate takes place in contemporary times in a town in South Dakota that has been around since at least the 1800's. Shay Brennan buys an abandoned Saloon with the thought of living in it and possibly making it into a Bed and Breakfast type of establishment. Little does she know that the place has some ghosts living there that might have other ideas.

A Haunted Twist Of Fate
I could hardly wait to get started reading the advanced reading copy (ARC) of A Haunted Twist Of Fate when it arrived in my mailbox. I had read another book by Stacey Coverstone last year and knew that I was sure to enjoy this book as much as I had enjoyed High Lonesome. It was Coverstone who showed me that not all romance novels are built the same and started me on a new journey in the romance genre of fiction, one that I had abandoned years ago.Stacey says on her website that she dreams of becoming a famous novelist some day. I really think that her dream will come true, especially if she keeps writing more books with the same dedication to detail and believability that she has with the books I have read so far.
A Haunted Twist Of Fate takes place in modern day South Dakota in a little town that was settled back in the 1800s. Shay Brennan happens to travel through and decides that this is the place she will finally settle and start some roots of her own. She has been trying to recover from the loss of her parents and a few bad relationships. Colt Morgan, the local realtor, shows Shay the old abandoned saloon known as the Buckhorn. She decides very quickly to purchase the building and moves right in. What neither Shay or Colt realize is that there are some ghosts that already occupy the old saloon. One ghost does his best to scare Shay out of the building while another ghost asks for her help. I am not going to go much further than this with the plot because I want you to read the book for yourself.
Coverstone is a master in descriptive writing and that is one of the things that I love about her novels. You get the sense of actually being in a town in the Black Hills and in this story, in particular, you get some serious chills when the ghosts are up to their mischief. I also love that in her weaving of the plot of romance, Coverstone does not overwrite the romantic scenes. She lets the reader use some of their own imagination as to the details. Her characters are believable with some natural vulnerabilities that her readers can identify with.
I also really liked the bit of a twist near the end of the book that brings together a connection of some of the characters that was a delightful surprise, at least it was to me.
Personally, I think Stacey Coverstone has a real winner with her latest novel. I am giving it 5 stars and I think you will too, when you have read it.
