How many times have you been there, ready to lose weight....temptation is all around, however I have always believed, the worst thing you can do is hide from all this, but there are steps you can take in between to help the pounds stay away from your hips.

popcorn maker for our Christmas, and we love it, at night time it was easy to go through to the kitchen pick up a packet of crisps some chocolate, a wee biscuit to dip into our tea.
Now we have a supply of fresh popcorn, which is great to grab as a handful as we walk past, and as long as you do not add salt or butter then it is a fantastic way to keep temptation at bay.

For years I was working a high stress very busy job, busy home life, so weight watching was never really an issue. Then after an accident when I could no longer work, the weight just seemed to creep up on me. I had always been relatively thin, with a not bad figure, however as the years get on, the family grow up, and I stopped working due to illness,
It was so easy just to have a packet of crisps here, a biscuit there, at night time was the worst, I love fruity gummy sweets they probably will always be my down fall. If it was just one that would be okay, but I just had to eat the packet.
Only when I was to be put on a certain medication and I was asked how much I weighed, did I get the fright I needed, I was positive these scales were wrong!
I had never weighed myself at all so I just roughly guessed my weight, I was 2 Stone over my Guesstimate! I was mortified and decided there and then something had to change.

It seems we all start off well then we slowly creep back to our old habits, some we have had since our youth, my favorite, go swimming come out go to the cafe and have a plate of chips, chocolate cake and a can of cola, because I am starving! Doh...
I hated the thought of "going on a diet" ....I could not bear it.
So I set out to find a way that was going to work for me. I was not massively overweight however I was uncomfortable with the extra weight I was carrying, I tried to work out the height / weight chart but that seemed flawed to me, we are all different shapes, so I found that calculating my body Mass was easier. This gave me an idea of how much extra body mass I was carrying, and psychologically this made sense to me.

Pick up the phone and phone my best friend! When I know I am about to eat that chocolate bar! she will talk me out of it and keep my mind off it until the notion passess

- Great information, you covered all the bases. I think writing down everything we put into our mouths is a great way to find out how much we really do take in, it is an eye opener for many.

- We love popcorn for a healthy snack. There are products available to use instead of butter to help keep the calories down. Also, we like a light dusting of sea salt as a more healthful alternative to enhance a healthy snack. As always, your lenses encourage and enlighten us- one of the reasons why I write on Squidoo.
