My Name Is Princess

This lens is another tribute to another one of my recently lost pets. This cat lived for 20 years, and, even though she was a little "stuck-up," I loved her just the same. She was gray and white, and very fluffy. We still don't know what breed she was, but this lens will be her story.

The Story Of Princess

Princess was given to me as a kitten when I turned 16. She was a present from my mom. The cat that lived next door to my grandparents had kittens, and my mom thought I would just love this gray and white "ball of fluff." I did.

It took us a while to come up with a name for her. We couldn't find one that seemed to fit her. For a few weeks, my mom and I just called her "princess." It ended up being her name. She had the whole "royal" attitude and everything. We think she might have been 1/2 Persian.

Because my mom gave her to me as a present, she came with me to my grandmother's basement when I was 17. She didn't really like living with the orange tabby I got when she was about a year old, but eventually the two of them became inseparable.

When I met my husband and got my house, she came with us here too. She was 20 years old, and the Vet said she was very healthy for a cat her age. When Ginger died in September of 2002, it wasn't much later, she died. Whether it was because her friend had died, or the move was just too stressful for her elderly body, I'm not quite sure. She died just before Christmas in 2002. She, too. is buried under the same tree as Ginger in my yard.
