The Links Voting (Plexo) Module
At first, I thought only of getting the word out on topics I liked. It never occurred to me to open up the line of communication, and give readers a say in what was happening on a lens. After studying some of the Giant Squids' work, I began to understand that it's not about me or about my topics. It's about them--the people who will pause to read my lens.
This lens explains my favorite module, and why a Links List Voting Plexo consider it a must-have for every lens. I use them frequently now, and plan to go back and add them to my earlier lenses, as well.

The Plexo Plexo
Add your own favorite Links Plexo modules here
Here's your opportunity to show off your best stuff. Do you have a Links List (Plexo) you're proud of? Add it here. (Be sure to grab the link directly to your module#, and not the overall lens link, as I want to showcase the Link Plexo's directly.) Or, if you've run across an interactive links list you'd like to showcase, share that, too.

Why Include an Interactive Module on your Squidoo Lens?
Five reasons to invite Squidoo readers to interact
1. People are the driving force behind Squidoo. Their opinions matter. Give them a chance to connect.2. Listening is a life skill that spills over into the Web world. Visitors take time to interact via Links lists; listen to what they have to say.
3. A lens without at least one interactive module gives the impression that you've built a tall fence around yourself.
4. Interaction is fun. (That's why Twitter works so well, too.)
5. You might learn something!

Setting Up Your Squidoo Lens
Adding a Plexo to your lens
Let's Talk!
Is the Links Plexo Important to You?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYep. I need to hear what my visitors are thinking.
Eclectic_Muse says:
Not until I read this lens! Hearing/seeing what visitors submit can make a difference. A plexo on one of my lenses brought me here.

flowski says:
I like to use it for a reciprocal link exchange on a few of my Squidoo lenses. An example - http://www.squidoo.com/christmas-gifts#module3906116
But as fluff points out it's effectiveness is limited. I really wish it was left up to the lensmaster whether or not to allow anyone to vote or just logged in Squidoo members.

I also agree with thefluffanutta, depending on your audience it can be tricky. However, it does work well for providing links and back links for your related lenses that you have in the Plexo too.

Charlyjl says:
I love Link Plexo's - you can link to ANYTHING! that is related to your lens topic - and others cna join the fun too. It makes your topic 'viral'...

I like it even if they can't vote, because it is another interesting way to link to other lenses and you can copy it from lens to lens.

I like to pick brains. I also find that a Plexo link list help me discover lensmasters and topics I've never seen before. I love it!

It's a huge waste of time. I rarely use it.
Cinetech says:
No. The reason being, they don't draw attention, and some people don't know how to use them. Let alone that they're not good looking.

spirituality says:
It really depends on the lens. I use link plexo's sometimes as an easy way to link to a group of lenses (all my lenses about squidoo for instance, or all new lenses). On other lenses I use it as an alternative for a link list. But I agree with Fluf: only if your target audience is squidoo lensmasters are they capable of voting or submitting something. And even if they are - they often just won't vote or submit.

thefluffanutta says:
The problem is, only Squidoo members are able to vote in a Plexo. Depending on your target audience, it's better to use the Poll module which allows everyone to participate in.

Jimmie says:
I agree with Fluff. I rarely use them. Link lists or polls are better substitutes. Most of my visitors are from outside Squidoo. If your lens is Squidoo related, then it would make sense to use one.

- Hi, I found this lens trying to find an answer to the question: if I list other people's lenses on my lens in a plexo, do they get less "juice" than if I put them in a "featured lenses" module?

Sometimes it's nice to have a bit more information about a lens. I like hearing the backstory--the reason someone writes a certain story or book. That's why I created Seedplanter's Porch, to give visitors an opportunity to step past the lens and learn more.
