A Book Review By BookLover87

A Promise For Spring is a wonderful read. A Young Lady From England is brought to America to live with her fiance a man she hasn't seen in five years. She is accompanied by her uncle, who shortly after hitting American shore falls ill and dies. Forced to go ahead with her journey, Emmaline Bradford gets to Kansas and to her fiance Geoffrey where things aren't what she wants them to be. Geoffrey expects his Emmaline to be as he once remembered her those five years ago back in England. Marriage is out of the question for the time being, and with Emmaline wanting to retreat back to England Geoffrey makes a compromise. If after spring she doesn't love Geoffrey, she can return to England. With the promise in mind she sets out with Geoffrey to his ranch where with the help of an elder black lady, once a slave, she learns what it's like to be a maid on a ranch in Kansas in the late 1800's.
