What Exactly Is a Squeeze Page and What Is It For?

A Squeeze Page is a webpage used by marketers to gather email addresses so that they can contact you later about related marketing good/services.

Keep reading below about how Squeeze Pages are used and what they are!

What's the Purpose of a Squeeze Page?

What is the main goal of having a Squeeze Page?

A squeeze page has the primary purpose of getting the visitor's email address. Capturing email addresses allows for the company to have follow-up marketing to be used with a better response rate. If the person enters in their email address, chances are that they are interested in buying the product and are on the fence about it.

The main focus item on a squeeze page is a form, which the visitor fills out with usually his/her name and email address. To get the visitor to fill out that form, it uses other elements in the page such as eye-catching headlines, bullet points telling the visitor what they would gain, teaser copy, testimonials from other people, and deadlines touting scarcity of the product or service. The Internet marketer also uses stories to convey the message of successes if the visitor merely enters in their email and reads their advice. There are many methods to use to entice the visitor.

What does a Squeeze Page Look Like?

It generally just has a field for your Name and Email address

The squeeze page is just a single web page with no links that take the visitor outside of that page. Because of the goal is to get the visitor's email address, having external links would diffuse and distract from that purpose. This minimizes the options to that visitor to either enter in their email address or to leave the site. With many distractions such as banner ads and other links, it would be too easy for the visitor to leave the squeeze page.

Internet marketers have even gone as far to see which colors work with the page better, which words work better to get the visitor to sign up, and what placement to use. This testing involves color psychology, eye tracking, and using heat map sensors to see what area the visitor first looks at when displayed a squeeze page. All this trouble just to get normal people like you and I to enter in our email address.

Why is One Email Address Worth So Much Trouble?

A Highly Targeted Email is Worth Its' Weight in Gold

Gathering email addresses builds up a subscriber list, which is essential in email marketing campaigns. A subscriber list of highly targeted people is worth its' weight in gold to a direct marketer or Internet marketer. With a highly targeted list, an Internet marketer has a high probability of success (getting the subscribers to purchase his/her product or service).

If the squeeze page was about gardening, and I enter in my email address (I happen to have a green thumb), I can be pitched an array of products. My email address to that marketer would be limitless if it were marketed the right way. I could be marketed gardening products such as a composter, special soil, earthworms to help aerate the soil, and also plows, shovels and gloves.

It could be further segmented to smaller niches, such as vegetable gardening and fruits. The marketer would just have to have different squeeze pages for different kinds of niches. Or if he has a general list, he can survey that list to see what they are interested in. There are many benefits of having a loyal subscriber list if it is highly targeted. So having a squeeze page to gather that list is, as you can see, crucial to an Internet marketer.
