Going To Bogor Botanical Garden

On a sunny and warm Friday, my husband, daughter, and I went to Bogor Botanical Garden. It was holiday, and we had been preparing for a recreation some times before that time. We chose to visit Bogor Botanical Garden as our recreational spot, a vast park with lots of plants species located in the middle of Bogor city.

We went to Bogor city by train; it only took forty minutes to reach there from our home in Depok city. Soon as we got in Bogor station, we continued our travel by a public transportation for about ten minutes. We reached Bogor Botanical Garden gate at around 10 AM and quickly merged our selves in the cool atmosphere there.

Entering the main gate, we walked along the stone path that lies throughout the garden. We also took time to rest for a while on a bench made of solid stone, ate some snacks and drank beverages. My daughter and I had some times to play hide and seek, there are so many tall and large trees that a person can hide behind them.

In the brochure we got at the entrance way, we knew that there's Rafflesia Flower spot somewhere in the garden. Too bad we didn't visit it, because we couldn't find the way to go there. Instead, we just continued walking and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of wide open grass fields.

The three of us had fun there, especially my daughter, who kept running and laughing here and there. Would you also visit Bogor Botanical Garden when you have a chance?

A Bit About Rafflesia Flower...

What is the largest flower in the world? The Rafflesia arnoldii.

The flower with the world's largest bloom is the Rafflesia arnoldii. This rare flower is found in the rainforests of Indonesia. It can grow to be 3 feet across and weigh up to 15 pounds! It is a parasitic plant, with no visible leaves, roots, or stem. It attaches itself to a host plant to obtain water and nutrients. When in bloom, the Rafflesia emits a repulsive odor, similar to that of rotting meat. This odor attracts insects that pollinate the plant. Source

Congrats on your Sunshine Award for such a worthy cause - a beautiful area. It's great for me to learn more about Indonesia, our neighboring country. In Australia, we do not get to see much of the beauty of your country. Well done - a great personal view.
