Vote Herman Cain In South Carolina!

Once again Stephen Colbert's antics are shaking things up in the political world! This time on a whole new level!

It is a sad day in America when comedians should be taken more seriously than our political leaders. But thank God for comedy!

If you are one who does not follow politics or find it very confusing, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart have brilliantly demonstrated how utterly, ridiculous our political system is!

The image on the left is an autographed photo Stephen emailed me for making a donation to his Super PAC.

It says: "Thinking of you ... giving me money. Love, Stephen

You can make a donation too! Visit Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow. Don't expect Stephen to send you an autographed photo via email though. You see, I made this donation in August of 2011 when it was "Colbert Super PAC". As of January 13, 2012 "The Definitely Not Coordinated With Stephen Colbert Super PAC" is under the management of Jon Stewart. Confused? Keep reading!

"We are somewhat indebted to him because, where those of us who are actually in the business of journalism, have not paid, I think, proper attention to what these Super PAC's are, and what they are doing. Stephen, by virtue of his satire is doing it!"

No, I am a Democrat, so he's out from the beginning. If you would like a coherent government then vote for the sitting president. See you around the galaxy...

I am a Democrat too and have every intention of voting for our president in the general election. I would NEVER vote for Herman Cain. Herman Cain is not running anyway.. so it makes no difference. The only effect this will have is in the Republican primary results. This is simply a demonstration by Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart on the effects and absurdity of the Supreme Court ruling (Citizens United). It shows how ridiculous the the idea is that Money=Speech as well as the fuzzy rules the candidates work under as to not "coordinate" with the Super Pac that runs ads for them.

I do not live in SC but if I did, I would not vote for Herman Cain.

The only thing more sad than the fact that Colbert and Stewart are more trusted than the politicians they lampoon on their comedy shows is the fact that most of their viewers get all of their news from said shows. This, despite the repeated urgings of both Colbert and Stewart for people to not rely solely on their shows for your source on current events.

I can't help but laugh . . but I know that there are some truths said in jest. I feel Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are highlighting the most absurd political processes that exists. If it gets people to think and examine things, it probably will be a good thing . . in the long run.
  • PollyFreakingAnna Jan 19, 2012 @ 5:40 pm | delete
It's hilarious, but it's also incredibly sad. When Stewart and Colbert were on the same phone call to the same lawyer not coordinating, I was both shocked and laughing.

The Newt Gingrich "not coordinating" announcement was just ridiculous.

I'm glad they are doing this because it breaks down an intentionally complex idea to show the absolute absurdity of the system.

It would be interesting if Cherman Colcain got even 5%. I think it depends on the college towns. It would certainly put Cain in an awkward position!

    Thanks for this lens :)

What Colbert is doing is using comedy to demonstrate the reality of the situation. This is really not a joke, because it is not funny.

His run for president is a joke, however ties into the work that he and Stewart are doing, that is no joke at all. They are using the talents they possess and the ridiculous rules provided to them by the "Citizens United" ruling to expose the process. In effect they are teaching people more about this issue who may have never understood any of this before. Knowledge is power!
