A1 Size Envelopes

The smallest size envelopes allowed through the U.S. mail service are size A1, also called 4Bar. The dimensions may vary slightly when purchasing this size as the various companies and private designers will create envelopes in their own way, but they are meant to hold stationery or cards that measure up to 3 by 5 inches (7.6cm by 12.7cm). The actual envelope size is usually noted to be 3 5/8 by 5 1/8 inches.

The paper types range from plain, to translucent, embossed and metallic, and every color imaginable is available. There are even various flap styles such as box and European and the flap can be gummed or not. Most often discounts are given for ordering in bulk and this page is just a starting point whether you are searching for a simple or elegant envelope.

The reason I made this page is that I sell 5.25 inch square wedding invitations which require a small reply card. I can create the small reply cards for my customers who purchase from my Zazzle online stores, but Zazzle does not sell the small envelopes. This page will be a good starting point for anyone who needs to purchase the less frequently used A1 envelopes.
