When I'm in the mood for a logical mystery where you try to outguess the detective, or one based on scientific principles (forensic anthropology in this case), this is definately the author I'll read.

The main character, Gideon Oliver, is the "Famed Skeleton Detective", a forensic anthropologist.  What he does is look at bones and deduce things about the person's life, death and habits from the marks or damage to the bones.  Really, it's fascinating.  Fascinating enough that my house mate and I both read a non-fiction book on forensic anthropology after reading some of these novels.

Like the other mystery series' that I like, this one has characters that grow and change from book to book, there are sparks of humor and the background and characters are interesting enough so that the books are re-readable.

It's probably gonna be a short lens...I want to get back to his latest novel "Unnatural Selection" which I'm in the middle of.
