Chicago Historian Visits March meeting
Lakeview East AARP Chapter welcome Victor Giustino
The Lakeview East AARP Chapter will welcome Chicago Historian Victor Giustino to our monthly meeting on Monday, March 9 at 12:30pm. We meet each second Monday at the Merlo Library at 644 W. Belmont. Mr Giustino is a Chicago fixture and in his words:
" I have lived in Chicago my whole life. (I'm 71) I was born above my dad's tavern on Milwaukee Avenue near Chicago Avenue. I went to city schools and colleges. (B.S. Roosevelt University, M.A. Governor's State University) I have taught many classes on Chicago History at Loyola, DePaul, etc. I have led over 500 tours of Chicago with peoole from the United States and all over the world.
20 years ago I won Crain's Chicago Magazine Chicago Trivia Contest.
I have a collection of over 1200 books on Chicago. I was a panelist for 10 years on WGN Radio's Ed Schwartz' Chicago History Shows. I've been photographed with movie stars and politicians and even President Bush, Sr. I have done many lectures on Chicago - I've written articles on Chicago - and did neighborhood guides.
I do lots of research on Chicago. Ronald Reagan, as a boy, lived in Hyde Park, and Mrs. Lincoln, as a widow, had a home on Washington Blvd. near Oprah's studio.
I'm still out into the neighborhoods listening to stories and finding lost history."
Please join us for Chicago history with Victor Guistino who enjoys involving the audience with his presentation. Refreshments will be served and we look forward to having new members join us.
Go to our chapter site and leave a comment. We hope you will check out our site and come to our meetings.
