Abama Luxury Residences

Here's a confession. As a young lad growing up in southern England, I used to sneak onto the local golf course and "find" lost balls to sell back to players. Time moves on and last week I marched, head held high, into the swankiest golf club in Tenerife, to look at investment properties.

MODERN TIMES
Abama Golf Resort is only a few years old but is much more than a top course lined with over 300 trees and shrubs,it also has a spa and wellness centre, restaurants and bars, tennis courts, and it's own private beach, facing the island of La Gomera at it's nearest point to Tenerife.
All these facilities are on tap for anyone who buys into Abama Luxury Residencies, but they have their own secluded privacy among their pools and communal gardens. The prices are pretty attractive too, 2 bed ground floor apartments from 635,348 euros to 1,280,510 euros for the top of the range 3 bed penthouse duplex apartments.

TENERIFE VIEWS ARE SO SPECIAL
There was nothing like this in the ball scrumpimg days of my youth. Mind you Tenerife is a long way from the UK, in terms of weather, and surroundings. The whole island is amazing but here on the west coast, nature and luxury have been brought together with style. As the golf course slopes down to the sea, the Atlantic makes a great outlook, but if you look back and beyond Abama, the mountains rise up, with snow capped Mount Teide taking pride of place. The Abama resort is actually perched on a cliff, just off the main motorway which links to the south and the main airport. That isolation helps to give the resort it's feel of exclusivity, but a quick glance to the west will reveal Playa San Juan, a typical Canarian fishing village, a great place to go and soak up some tradition.

THROUGH THE KEYHOLE
Being nosey, I had to find out a little more about the Abama Luxury Residencies, so I had a good look around. I was told they were designed by Melvin Villarroel, that didn't mean a lot to me, but I cheated and Googled his name and was pleased to find that he is a big cheese in the architects world and has won 15 national and international awards.
I couldn't fault him on his designs, they were all spacious and had great terraces and the finishing gave them a bright modern look.
I know the main Abama resort has so much going on in terms of sport, food and drink, but it was nice to see that the residencies have their own social club so they can develop their own community feel.

THE PLACE TO BE
I managed to get someone to drop a few names while I was looking around, just some of the big hitters that had called into Abama to stay or just use the facilities. Bill Clinton had a round of golf, Zinedine Zidane had a go at some tennis and only a few weeks before I was there, a group of tennis veterans competed for the Abama Senior Cup, including none less than Bjorn Borg.

Maybe for visitors like that I would have sold the golf balls back for just half price. My little youth venture, never did make me a millionaire but at these prices, the Abama Luxury Residencies are in most peoples reach, especially as the Abama Management Service, can even rent them out to bring in an income when you are away.I could definitely get used to this west coast living.
