All About Abby Cadabby
Abby "Abigail" Cadabby is a fairy-in-training who first appeared in 2006 in the 37th season of the children's television show Sesame Street. She is performed by Leslie Carrara and was designed by Ed Christie and built by Rollie Krewson. The first new female Muppet on Sesame Street in 13 years, she is a playmate of Elmo, Zoe, Baby Bear and the rest of the Sesame Street gang. Being the new girl on the block, she is meant to bring a further opportunity to share lessons on the differences of people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Sesame Street often features celebrity guests; her dream guest would be George Clooney, because "he's got a pot-bellied pig and I've always wanted to adopt one.""Spotlight on Abby Cadabby", People Magazine, 4 September 2006 issue.

Abby Cadabby's Cultural Diversity
Abby not only brings more "girl" to Sesame Street, but also a little magic as the first fairy on the show. She was made a fairy rather than a monster like her friends Rosita and Zoe or a humanoid like Prairie Dawn or Betty Lou to create the opportunity to talk about being different.Abby comes from a storybook world and is well-versed in fairytales, but finds the ordinary things of our world like coloring, letters and rhyming to be magical. Her new friends find her differences to be enchanting as well, particularly her limited magic that allows her to pop in and out at will or float when she's happy.
She can speak a language called Dragonfly and is teaching Rosita the language, while Rosita teaches her Spanish.

Don't forget, Abby's just a fairy-in-training and while she may have a magic wand, her powers are pretty limited. Basically, she can pop in and out of thin air, float when she's happy, and turn things into pumpkins. (She's still working on being able to turn them back!) Her magic word, allerednic, is Cinderella backwards.She describes what her mother does as "waves her wand and makes a rhyme", which opens up opportunities to talk about rhyming words. Often to try to undo a spell with unintended consequences.

In the show, Abby and her friends -- Elmo, Cookie Monster, Rosita, Grover and Oscar the Grouch -- search for the key to a magical talking treasure chest.Head on up to Sesame Place, a Sesame Street theme park in Langhome, PA. I'd suggest sticking with pink, purple and turquoise, then doing Abby accents like wands or stars or other magic items and some Abby dolls. But if they ever do make Abby bedding, I'll have it on here!
