The Abeka preschool curriculum has worked very well with my 3 year old son. He is soon to be 4 yrs old and knows all of his colors, shapes, letters, phonics, addition, some site words from the 100 list, bible stories and also sounding out words trying to read. I think the program really works and glad to have him apart of it.

Abeka preschool curriculum basically just works on learning to read, writing letters and numbers, and doing flashcards. It seems pretty expensive and has a lot of seat work for such a little child. A few children like lots of workbooks, but most parents would do just as well with a guide and list of good children's picture books.

I have been reading a lot about A beka curriculum lately, mostly positive. Most parents and teachers are amazed at how much children learn when using A beka. The caution that keeps coming up is to balance the seatwork with activity. Also, be flexible and bend the curriculum to your child rather than bending your child to the curriculum. A beka is a perfect fit for some, but may be a terrible fit for others.
