How Can One Little Tick Cause So Much Trouble?
Deer get blamed for the spread of Lyme disease a lot, but did you know that you don't have to be around deer to get this disease? Little, inoffensive looking birds, mice and even your family dog can bring deer ticks right to your door.
Lyme Disease - the Thirty Day Illness?
Many Doctors Disagree With the CDC
Doctors are saying that they think the term chronic Lyme disease is the problem. They prefer to call this inability to recover and the related health problems Post Lyme Disease Syndrome instead. As I've mentioned many times in discussions about Lyme, who cares what it is called? Lets stop wasting resources on deciding on a name and use them to fix the problem!

Lyme Disease Tips
- If you aren't sure if you have Lyme disease and you have a spot on your body that looks like you could stand in for a dartboard, you should go to your doctor immediately for a consultation.
- If you are going outside, use a tick repellent and wear light colored, long sleeved clothing. Check yourself frequently for ticks.
- If you have feral cats you are feeding, try to get tick treatments on them. I still think my Lyme disease may have come from a tick brought onto the porch by one of the feral cats I feed. A tick treatment also helps keep them safe.
- Don't let anyone make you feel like you are crazy because you didn't get better after you took a six to eight week antibiotic treatment. If Lyme disease is caught immediately, it usually responds quickly. If diagnosis and treatment is delayed, the situation could be quite different.
- Don't believe everything you are told. Some Lyme disease treatments are very unsafe and have not been proven to work. Consult your doctor and do some of your own research before you decide to try any treatments someone suggests.

Are You a Face of Lyme?
I'm writing a book about the Faces of Lyme to show people that not everyone is affected by the disease in the same way and to encourage people to avoid falling for dangerous scams out of desperation. If you've had or still have Lyme disease, I'd love to interview you for the book.
