Photo Poetry

We all know that a picture is worth a thousand words. But what if we want to describe the feelings that object in the image raises in us? You can try it with a poem and it should be as short as possible. Forms, which for my taste and way of expressing, fits the best to the sensations that you experience at watching the pictures, are the Japanese poetic forms of haiku and tanka.

Photo of beautiful lilies and a pleasant feeling that its beauty raises in us, have a good support in the following haiku:

so beautiful
charmingly glows in a dream
jewel in the dark

Meditative fusion

Source: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Basho_Horoh...Haiku shows an extremely condensed time in nature, which is associated with events in the human interior. Haiku illustrates the basic image, the atmosphere and emotions.

summer rain on window
tear on cheek
don't wash sorrow

Tanka (also Waka), is a traditional Japanese poetic form, which contains five verses: the first and third verse have five syllables, second, fourth and fifth of seven. It is therefore a very short poetic form based on the extreme brevity of the term. Modern Tanka form leave us more freedom.

wind and time
gentle caress traces
on the routes we walk
brings the sweet smell
of love we share

I like both poetic forms, because they permit minimum number of words and we have to focus more on emotions, the feeling that we want to express. Writing thus becomes a meditation and feelings gently blend into the words.

Even more enjoyable is observing the nature and its beauty and to connect images with feelings that arise from us during meditative fusion with the environment.

We can say that the beauty borns greater, more subtler beauty.
