History and Origin of Bengal Cats

The Bengal cats are described as "luxurious looking, elegant, intelligent, good natured and stunningly beautiful."
The Bengal cat is a relatively new hybrid breed of cat, created by the cross of a domestic feline and an Asian Leopard Cat.
The goal of creating the Bengal Cat breed was to develop a breed with the personality of the sweetest of domestic cats and the look of the most beautifully spotted of the wild cats
Bengal cats have wild leopard looking markings, such as large spots, rosettes, and a light/white belly, and a body structure reminiscent of the Asian Leopard Cat.

The bengal cat breed typically also has a "mascara" (horizontal striping alongside the eyes), and foreleg striping.

The Bengal cat is usually either classed as brown-spotted or snow-spotted (although there are more colours, brown and snow are the only colours that the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy recognize). Within brown Bengals, there are either marble or spotted markings.
Snow Bengals are also either marble or spotted and mostly have blue eyes.
The snow Bengal colors are seal lynx point, seal sepia tabby, and seal mink tabby.

While the Bengal cat has a "wild" appearance the bengal cats temperament is gentle and loving.

Most bengal cats are know to love water. Some people even say that their bengal cat takes bubble baths with them!
It is best to introduce a bengal kitten to baths and water slowly and gently without scaring him by throwing him into a bath or pool.

Although bengals have become a popular cat breed, with over 60,000 cats registered with T.I.C.A.not all cat registries accept them - in particular the Cat Fanciers' Association does not accept any hybrids.
Here are currently several varieties of domestic cats that have come from the Bengal:

The Serengeti cat: developed from crosses with Oriental Shorthair or Siamese with the aim to produce a domestic cat mimicking the appearance of an African Serval, without actually incorporating Serval genes by hybridization.
The Savannah, which does include serval genes.
The Toyger: developed from crosses with domestic cats with the aim to produce a striped "toy Tiger".
The Cheetoh: an attempt to blend two existing domestic breeds of spotted cats with defined characteristics (Bengal and Ocicat), into a third breed.

Bengal Cat Breed Temperament

After three generations from the original crossing, the breed usually acquires a gentle domestic cat temperament; however, for the typical pet owner, a Bengal cat kept as a pet should be at least four generations removed from the Leopard Cat.
The so-called "foundation cats" from the first three filial generations of breeding are usually reserved for breeding purposes or the specialty pet home environment.

Bengal Cats Personality

What are bengal cats like?

Cute Bengal Cat ClimbingBengal cats are very energetic, intelligent, and curious, and are always investigating things, climbing into boxes, ontop of wardroabs, and up trees if they get a chance too.
Bengal cats like to follow their owners around and see what they are doing.

However, while being friendly and loving bengals aren't really "lap cats."
They do not really apreciate being picked up and preffer to be pet when they want to and where they want to.

Bengal cats do NOT like being on their own!
They are extremely playful, all their lives long and if left alone at home can get depressed or distructive.
If you work a lot or are away often, it is recommended to get two bengal cats so that they can play with eachother.
Best is to get two (or more depending on you) bengal cat kittens. As when they are kittens they are most likely to get used to eachother faster and not fight later on with each other.

If you are planning to get bengal kittens, then best if you get bengal kitten siblings as they not only are bonded together from birth but also it is nicer for them to have a sister or brother as their lifelong friend than a strange cat.

Bengal cats are said to love water and even swimming!
A lot of bengal cat breeders and bengal kitten owners tell of how their cat bathes with them or their children, plays with water in the sink or bath tub and doesn't fear water at all!

However it is not recommended to chuck your cat into a full bathtub or (like some perverce minds might think funny) throw her into the toilet!

Delicious Homemade Soup for Old Bengal Cats

Bengal Cats and Kittens will love this Soup!

How To Make Homemade Cat Fish Soup

Homemade cat soup fish for cats, is great if your cat is too old or sick to eat big chunks of meat or fish.
Homemade cat soup, makes your cat eat healthy cat food such as fish, sardines, even potatos, carrots, fish sauce and watercress or peas without them being fussy or picky about what they want to eat!
Another good thing about sardine soup for cats, is that if your cat lives with you in a very cold country, it's always good to have some warm, nice homemade soup in your cats belly.

Here is what you need to make homemade cat soup:

two canned sardines
half a fish
a cup of water or two cups of water. (depending on the size of your cups)
one small square (1/8 ) of butter
Few stalks of watercress or peas
Fish sauce (if it comes with the sardines or extra)
half a mashed potato
one small carrot

1. First, cook up the potato and the carrot in a separate pot until the potato is nice and soft so that it is easily mashable.
2. Next, smear the butter on the heavy-based frying pan and put the sardines into it.
3. Cook on a medium heat.
4. After a few more minutes, pour in the water and stir it well.
5. Cut up the watercress and toss it into the pan.
6. When the sardines are ready, you can remove them from the fire and start cooking up the fish instead.
7. In the meantime, mash the carrot and the potato together with a fork or a blender. Fork is perhaps better, since your cat can then taste the of potato, however, for fussy eaters, blending the potato and the carrot is the best thing.
8. Lastly, when the fish is done, (should be more on the raw side) remove the pan from the heat and let cool it off.

Two options to finishing the homemade cat soup for old cats:

Put all the ingredients into a deep soup dish and blend them up to a soup (for very old cats or fussy eaters.).
Cut up the fish into little chunks and add it to the sauce, the sardines and the mash. (For not so old cats, or cats that love to eat anything that tastes good to them!)
Add the fish sauce as the final ingredient.

Hope your cat will enjoy this delicious homemade cat food soup for old cats!
