Squidoo.com releases Twttrstrm
It's called Twttrstrm (we didn't have enough money to buy vowels). It stands for TwitterStorm.
Ask a question of your Twitter followers and easily gather all their answers in one spot.
It is a Squidoo plug in and a stand alone site that allows any Twitter user to start a discussion or ask for advice or just create a record of a thread.
"Should I buy a Blackberry or an iPhone?" or "What do you think of Guy Kawasaki's Alltop?" or "Short reviews of The Dark Knight" or "Where should I get sushi in San Diego?" (Get more ideas for Twttrstrm uses).
Here's the magic part: as your followers click through and respond, the storm spreads to their followers. So, in short, it's a threaded, viral, structured conversation in the middle of the Twitter melee.
It's free and really easy to use in tandem with your Twitter account. The unsung bonus is that you can even earn royalties from the Twttrstrm conversations you create. For you or for charity.
Hope you like it.
Twttrstrm gives you the best of both worlds:
Quick feedback, and an organized storehouse for it.
Imagine these Twttrstrms

In addition, Squidoo occasionally partners with smart web companies to do cobrands programs like this one with Zazzle, this with eBay, and this with CafePress.

SQUIDOO RELEASES TWTTRSTRM.COM, A NEW TOOL FOR GATHERING FEEDBACK FROM YOUR TWITTER FOLLOWERS
Ask a question of your Twitter followers and automatically gather their answers in one handy place.
Squidoo.com this week launches Twttrstrm.com, a lightweight free tool that helps Twitter users organize and archive feedback from their followers.
Twttrstrm makes it easy for anyone on Twitter to create a page about a topic, question, prediction or debate. "Should I buy a Blackberry or an iPhone?" or "What do you think of Alltop?" or "Short reviews of The Dark Knight" or "The best line in Obama's Inaugural is..."
With one click, followers can respond and in turn easily tweet their answers. A powerful element of a twtterstrm is that you not only reach your followers, but you reach your followers' followers, and so on. And then, once the storm has passed, the record of the conversation stays live for the rest of the web to see for weeks or years to come.
"Here's the magic part," says Squidoo founder Seth Godin. "As your followers click through and respond, the storm spreads to their followers. So, in short, it's a threaded, viral, structured conversation in the middle of the Twitter melee."
Powered by Squidoo's popular platform, every Twttrstrm page supports versatile uses far beyond just simple polls or surveys. It's simple to add content ranging from videos, photos and polls, to links, RSS feeds and even Amazon and eBay widgets. These options help bring background and context to the central question or statement.
And every page generates revenue, for the person who built it or for the charity of their choice. Some Squidoo users earn more than $40,000 a year.
"One of Twitter's many strengths is in culling realtime (or near to it) feedback from your followers," says Squidoo Editor in Chief Megan Casey. "If Robert Scoble asks for restaurant recommendations in Tokyo, 10 minutes later he's got some. But it's hard to see all the @reply responses at once, even with the help of hashtags. Even harder to access that rich, human content a few days later. So we've created an easy way for Twitter users to gather and store all responses to a certain question or discussion. In the Scoble example, a single list of great restaurants in Tokyo is a super useful page to share with the rest of the web. You get the best of both worlds: quick feedback, and an organized storehouse for it."
Go to www.Twttrstrm.com to start your free page in under 2 minutes.

A powerful element of a Twttrstrm is that you not only reach YOUR followers, but you also reach your followers' followers, and so on. And then, once the storm has passed, the record of the conversation stays live for the rest of the web to see for weeks or years to come.

P.S. This page (called a "lens") donates to charity
We give 5% of what we earn, right off the top, to charity. We keep 45% to cover our overhead and stuff.
That leaves 50%. That goes to charity or to the people who build the pages. And we leave it up to you to choose one or the other.
It's that simple. You can earn a dollar, a nickel or a dime at a time for your favorite cause or for you.
Did we mention that Squidoo is free? Always has been.
This lens, for example, earns a little money from the ads on it, and 100% of the cut that this lens gets from the ad pool is donated to Room to Read.

- I've added a twitter storm module to an alternative learning lens. I may create a full .com page depending on results.
Looks like fun for lens readers. It is certainly a way to challenge lens skimmers.
