Create an About Us Page For Your Business
Ranked #631 in Internet, #34,898 overall
Get More Buyers, Earn Trust, Showcase your Personality and Uniqueness with your About Us Page
An "about," "about us," "about me," "company information," or "about the company" page can be a valuable asset to a website, and is one of the most important web pages of your site. Often times an about us page will be one of the first results when searching for a business online. Providing convincing facts, history and attributes of your business will enhance the content of your website and provide the customer with an intimate, personal look at the operations, personnel and products. Set yourself apart from the competition and make an about us page that leaves a lasting impression!

Add Credibility to your Business
Create the perfect about us page and convey professionalism
An About Us page can do one of two things:- Provide the visitor with important information about the company and products while enhancing the overall experience of the visit.
- Be a waste of space that adds nothing to your site!
The Focus of your About Us Page
Stay on topic!

When creating your about us page, one of the most effective and easy ways to create one can be through an outline format. Think of what you want to gain through your about us page, be it more visitors, trust, email sign-ups, click-throughs to another page, or a sale. Start by outlining a written (or typed if you prefer) page in this common outline format:
About Us Page
I. Goal of the about us page
>A. Newsletter sign-up
>>>1.Offer incentives to sign up
>>>>>a. Coupons
>>>>>b. Weekly information about our business or important relevant info
>>>2.Include several links on page
>B. Have visitors click through to charity donation page
II. Other Goals of About Us page
>A. More search engine traffic
>B. Provide a timeline history of our company
After completing the outline, you should have a nicely organized template for your about us page that should translate well into an easy-to-read page.
Approach for your About Us Page
Methods to use when creating your page
You can take several approaches when writing your about us page. In any approach you follow, be sure to make it entertaining and not boring.
A popular approach for small businesses and large businesses alike is the personal approach. Very fitting for small businesses, this method will include an up-close view of the company, such as personal pictures, bios of employees/personnel, and even quotes and anecdotes from your employees. Be sure to include accomplishments and qualifications of your employees as well. A picture or link to a page featuring customer appreciation events or sponsorship of worthy causes is another valuable asset to the about us page. Often times customers prefer this format because of the intimate feel of the page.
Large businesses often have a different approach, but can combine some of the same elements of small business about us pages to get the best of both worlds. Large business about us pages often convey a large presence, one that consumers can trust because of their long-term status. An established brand like Coca-Cola may use this approach. A timeline or history of the brand can be very effective, as well as specialized focus on charity work and community sponsorships the business is affiliated with.
Tell a Story
Keep readers interested with the story of your business!
Readers love a good story. Why not turn your about us page into a compelling story about your business? Think about what you want your about us page to focus on, then think of a story about your business that has that conveys that end result. Whatever the story you decide to tell, be sure it's fun, interesting and appropriate. A well-told story should make your readers want to sign-up, purchase, click a link or bookmark your site. Tell your story well! Green Factors
Green your business to make your about us page more attractive and eco friendly
The "green" factor may be the determining factor whether a customer decides to purchase your product or the competition's product. If you already have a green element to your business, be sure to tell them about it! If not, think of ways to make your business more green. Environmental awareness is increasingly important to the consumer, so be sure to stake your claim in the green movement. Also, if you are involved in any green charities, tell everyone about it! It can't hurt. Can't Create your Own About Us Page?

Additional Factors to Consider for your About Us Page
A checklist rundown for your about us page
Here's a quick checklist of ideas for your about us page updates:
- Are there enough pictures to keep the viewers interest? Are the pictures outdated?
- Is the about us page linked to every page of your site?
- Does the about us page instill trust in the reader?

- Is the competition's page better than yours? Who are they linking to, and who has linked to them?
- Is there a link to contact the business, or have some sort of customer service link?
- Does the focus of the page remain constant or is it jumping all over the place?
- Are your keywords in check? Check to see what keywords would be best for your about us page and monitor what works best.
- Are there any directories that you can submit your deep linking about us page to?
- Is the link still active? Does the page contain any broken links?

- Is it interesting? Fun? If not, you need a rewrite! Ask friends, family and employees for their input as well.

- Good lens. And a reminder that your site is more about your customer and their needs. Your services, products and solutions should be most prominent. An "about us/company information" page is better as a secondary page with information (contact info, team profiles, references) to build credibility.

- I have a few websites and I have tended to skimp over the "about us" section and looked it more as a pain than a resource. You have changed my mind and I will definitely put more work into them.
Thank you
