How To Start An Online Business

Learning how to start an online business is not something that is all that difficult to learn. In reality, there are just a few different things that you need to learn about. Each piece to an online business has a point and a purpose. Now you can miss different areas of the whole map and still make a profit but the business will grow faster and you will make more profits if you have all of the different pieces working in unison.

So there are four different components that you will need in order to start an online business. They are:

1) The Branding Hub

2) The Sales Funnel

3) The Backend

4) The Marketing

These are the major parts needed. I have yet to see any hugely successful internet business that did not have these 4 components. But like I said before, you do not need to have all of them but, your company will do better and grow faster through having all of these.

So let`s get into each of these a little bit more.

So what is the branding hub? Well the branding hub is a location or multiple locations where you are branding your business to the world. You want to become "The Expert" when it comes to your niche or field. What happens online is as people are looking around for things in your niche, you want them to be always seeing you. If they are seeing you and see the value that you are bringing to them, they will be more inclined to buy from you.

Here are 2 quotes that I wanted to share that you probably have heard and know yourself.

"People like to buy, not be sold" and "People buy from those that they trust"

If you think about those two quotes, you will totally get it. So you want to be someone that they end up trusting and then you will not need to sell, they will just buy. The reason for the first quote is also because if you provide no content, then your prospects will just feel like a sale and that you are not adding to their lives.

And this is one of the core points about internet marketing that so many people miss. PEOPLE COME TO THE INTERNET TO GET INFORMATION, NOT TO BUY THINGS. So you need to become that person that they come to and trust for the information. Once that happens, all you need to do is just recommend something and your prospects will flock to become your customer.

It sounds funny but that is how it really works online.

Now this is an important point in how to start an online business. This is how you get all of your money and profits. A sales funnel is a finely designed system for you to send your prospects through to do one of two things.

1) Get the visitors information as a lead for you.

2) Make a sale

That is it. That is the entire point of the sales funnel.

This is something that most people miss. They get a shopping cart for their website and they think that they will be making all of these sales now because they put up a "Buy Now" button. That can work but you need to have a heck of a lot more people or traffic coming to your site. If you sit back and break it down, every different type of marketing is focused on different people's needs. Why not have a sales funnel for each of those markets.

What I am saying is instead of sending all of your prospects that you generate online to one generic site, why not make multiple sales funnels that targets each of your different types of marketing. So if you are selling Goji juice and you are marketing to people that are researching Mangosteen juice, make a sales funnel just for those people. What will happen is that the traffic that ends up coming to this particular sales funnel will be more inclined to buy because you addressed what they were originally looking for, the Goji juice.

That is how you make more sales for the same amount of marketing that you are doing. You tailor your sales funnel to your prospect.

In the way of how to start an online business, the back end is very important. This is actually where 95% of all of your sales come from. In traditional sales, this is also known as the follow up. It is not as common for people to come through to your sales funnel and the first time that they see it, they buy. In actual facts, most of the sales come in after people have seen the offer 3 to 7 times.

So you want to have a system set so that you can easily reconnect with these new leads so that you can reintroduce them to your offer. The best way to do this online is through email.

Now I know what you are thinking, "Email, I get a tone of those and I just delete them." Now that is true, people do not like getting spam emails. But lots of people are totally open and enjoy getting emails when they have specifically asked for more info. If you were looking up information on Goji juice and someone offered to teach them all they need to know about the different types of juices and what the benefits are, then you talk about a different juice each day for a week, they would want to open up those email. Then with each email, you would direct them back to your sales funnel for your product and how your product can help them or whatever your USP (Unique Selling Point) is.

The other thing that you can do now is that you can remarket new things to them as long as it goes along with how they became a lead. In the case above, people might also be interested in other things that they can do to be healthy, so then you can sell other products that help people with their health.

If you want to start an online business, you are going to need to get good at marketing. That really is the name of the game when it comes to internet sales. Now all you are doing in marketing you business is just getting the word out there about your business; letting people know that you are there.

On the internet there are literally hundreds of different ways to market an online business. You can do anything from articles, emails, pay per click, search engine optimization, banner ads, traffic exchanges, forums, social media, joint ventures, and many many more.

There really is so much out there that I cannot cover them all here but I wanted to share some key things about internet marketing in general.

The first thing that you need to do is decide what type of internet marketing that you want to be doing. Once you have done this, stick to it. Master it. So many people try to go out there and do many different types of marketing all at once and they really get nowhere. It's through the consistent focus and the skill development where you become really successful with the marketing.

The second thing is that you might need to hire a specialist in the area that you are most drawn to. If you want to do search engine optimization (SEO), you might want to hire someone to help you do the different aspects and to teach you.

But no matter what you decide to do with the marketing for your online business, massive action is the best thing that you can do. The sooner you get your marketing out to the world, the sooner you will start seeing the traffic and the sales.
