Ellen Degeneres

I have decided to write a lens about Ellen. She is a very strong, and influential person who I admire greatly. Since I have started working from home I have been lucky enough to get to watch her every day, and for that hour I am usually laughing a majority of the time. She just has a way of uplifting my spirit and I am sure I am not alone.
If you are a fan or Ellen, read on and feel free to make any comments about the lens, Ellen, or anything!

All About Ellen!

These days you don't even have to say her last name because she is so widely known as Ellen.

Ellen was born on January 26th, 1958 in Louisiana. She has one sibling, an older brother named Vance. When her parents split during her second year of high school Ellen moved with her mom and brother to Atlanta, Texas.
After graduating from high school Ellen moved back to New Orleans with no real definite plans. She worked at various jobs from oyster shucking to a court runner for a law firm to a door to door salesperson. Ellen also decided to enter into the Funniest Person in New Orleans contest. She ended up winning this and moved on to winning the State of Louisiana and finally by winning the title of "The Funniest Person in America."
As you may remember, Ellens first TV Series was originally named "These Friends of Mine." It became an instant hit and was later renamed "Ellen." Series 4 of "Ellen" was when Ellens character "Came out" in an hour long episode April 30th, 1997.
The sad news about this is that some areas of the United States such as Birmingham, Alabama refused to air the landmark episode and some of the sponsors such as Chrysler withdrew their advertisements.
Also in 1997 Ellen decided to let the world know "Yep, I'm Gay." Her first public relationship was with actress Anne Heche which lasted until August of 2000.
In 2003 Ellens daytime talk show "Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show" proved to be an instant success. The show won 15 Emmy Awards in its first three season aired.

After Ellens relationship with Anne Heche she became involved with Alexandra Hedison. Their relationship lasted for 4 years, until 2004.

Ellen is now married to Portia de Rossi. The wedding took place August 16th, 2008 at Ellens home in Beverly Hills California.

Portia's apology for the damage they have done to others is priceless, a little more pointed than Ellen usually is I am a big fan of Ellen, and I appreciate that you worked on this ***** lens and didn't just do the McLens that is given.

BTW Portia was wonderful in Arrested Development link

    Thanks for the great lens!

Ellen said what?!?!

Here are some of my favorite Ellen DeGeneres lines:

"I'm a lesbian, Aquarian, and a vegetarian"

"I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her."

"Sometimes the greatest things are the most embarassing"

"Every morning, I would come down to the kitchen and I would see myself making coffee and I would think "oh, she's pretty". (On what life would be like with an identical twin)
