Accessory Love!

Hey all! I'm back again. This time with some tips on how to keep your favorite accessories fresh & loving you back. Feel free to contribute to the lens in the guestbook if you have any favorite ideas on how to keep your accessories looking their best.

Clean Tarnish From Your Jewelry

Line glass baking dish with tin foil.

Set jewelry on top.

Spinkle with baking soda.

Pour boiling water on top.

Let set for 10 minutes.

Supposedly, the tarnish ends up being transferred to the foil.

I haven't personally done this so I don't know how well it works. So, be forewarned - your jewelry is in your hands. Which it was anyway, but you know what I mean... Try this tip at your own risk.

Anyway, how I normally get tarnish off my sterling silver is by using a sterling silver polishing cloth. They are absolutely, just like magic! See below for a link to one on Amazon.

Clean Satin Shoes

This tip comes from Lucky magazine via Due Farina designers Marina Rosin-Levine & Fabiana Rigamonti:

Get a bar of Marseille soap and a white cloth.

Mix the soap into a bowl of water.

Dip cloth in water, then rub on the stain ina circular motion. Don't scrub too hard.

Air-dry out of direct light to avoid color damage.

This is the soap recommended by Due Farina designers!

Get Salt Stains off Winter Boots

White vinegar is the magic ingredient to use to get salt stains off winter boots.

Mix equal parts vinegar & water, soak a cloth in it.

Dab on shoes/boots & wipe dry with a towel.

Disclaimer: try a small test spot first, before diving in & doing the whole shoe or boot. Just to be safe & make sure it doesn't cause any problems...
