A Course in Miracles - famous quotes and sayings

Ranked #555 in Culture & Society, #13,811 overall

One of the deepest hyped spiritual books of the late 20th century is 'a Course in Miracles' (also known as ACIM). It uses Christian symbols and imagery, but the message is universal and strongly reminiscent of Eastern spirituality (mainly Vedanta).

Below you'll find quotes from this famous text organized by topics like God, Love, Reality etc.

A Course about ACIM itself...

Corrective learning begins with the awakening of spirit, and the turning away from belief in physical sight. (p. 22)

There are no idle thoughts. (p. 27)

Only those who give over all desire to reject can know that their own rejection is impossible. (p. 43)

Do not ask Spirit to heal the body. Ask rather that Spirit teach you the right perception of the body. (p. 146)

A therapist doesn't heal, he lets healing be. (p. 161)

You will remember everything the instant you desire it wholly. To desire wholly is to create. (p. 164)

What is healing but the removal of all that stands in the way of knowledge. (p. 188)

What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present, and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good? (?)

You may believe that you are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice. What you do comes from what you think. (?)

ACIM about Love

Perfect love casts out fear. If fear exists, then there is not perfect love. (p.12)

Love will immediately enter into any mind that truly wants it. (p. 55)

Anger involves projection of separation, which must ultimately be accepted as one's own responsibility, rather than being blamed on others. (p. 84)

You have so little faith in yourself because you are unwilling to accept the fact that perfect love is in you, and so you seek without for what you cannot find within. (p.293)

The search for love is but the honest searching out of everything that interferes with love. (p. 267)

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. (?)

This is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary.
Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum.
It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time.
The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught.
It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence,
which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear,
but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.
This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:

Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God. (Intro)

The hidden can terrify not for what it is, but for its hiddenness. (p. 265)

Nothing you see means anything alone. (p. 268)

Clean but the mirror and the message shines forth. (p. 271)

Fantasies are the veil behind which truth is hidden. (p. 316)

Whenever your thoughts wander, enter with Him into a holy instant, and there let Him release you. He needs only your willingness to share His perspective to give it to you completely. (p. 323)

There is nothing outside you. (p. 358)

Heaven is not a place or a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect oneness. (p. 359)

Let your self be one with something beyond it. (p. 361)

Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. What you see reflects your thinking. And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see. (?)

Every thought you have makes up some segment of the world you see. It is with your thoughts, then, that we must work, if your perception of the world is to be changed. (?)

Every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal. (?)

Video with 'A Course in Miracles' Quotes

"A Course in Miracles" is a self-study thought system, about undoing the blocks in awareness to the experience of love. It's unique in teaching forgiveness to reach inner peace and the remembrance of the unconditional love of God. It is not a religion, nor does it require anything except your willingness, motivated by your own search for meaning in life. This video's quotes are taken directly from the text with no editing nor interpretations. These are from the Introduction and part of Chapter 1.

Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. They are performed by those who temporarily have more for those who temporarily have less. (p. 1)

The miracle but calls your ancient name. (p. 518)

The miracle comes quietly into the mind that stops an instant and is still. (p. 547)

Infinite patience produces immediate results. (?)

ACIM about the ego

The ego lives by comparisons. (p. 52)

The ego cannot survive without judgment. (p. 54)

The ego does not want to teach everyone all it has learned, because that would defeat its purpose. (p. 109)

The ego seeks to divide and separate. Spirit seeks to unify and heal. (p. 110)

To the ego, the mind is private. (p. 296)

Do you prefer that you be right or happy? (?)

God calls and you do not hear, for you are preoccupied with your own voice. (p. 232)

When everyone is welcome to you as you would have yourself be welcome to your Father, you will see no guilt in you. (p. 246)

You are afraid of God because you fear your brother. This brother who stands beside you still seems to be a stranger. (p. 393)

The memory of God comes to the quiet mind. (p. 457)

Are you afraid to find a loss of self in finding God? (p. 565)

The holy ones whom God gave you to save are everyone you meet or look upon, not knowing who they are, all those you saw an instant and forgot, and those you knew a long while since, and those you will meet yet, the unremembered and the not yet born. (p. 618)

When you have learned how to decide with God, all decisions become as easy and as right as breathing. There is no effort, and you will be led as gently as if you were being carried down a quiet path in summer. (?)

The five stages of the soul transformation process: Michael Mirdad | spiritual growth
Michael Mirdad, known mostly as a teacher of sacred sexuality, has brought out a book that addresses these issues: You're Not Going Crazy - You're Just Waking Up! The Five Stages of Soul Transformation Process. Mirdad looks at the process of spiritual transformation as a cycle consisting of 5 stages. We will go through these stages again and again as we let go of the past and reinvent ourselves. The only way to avoid them and step out of the cycle is to become so aware of our own growth process as to learn the lessons needed without life needing to give us a hint.
Michael Mirdad interview
A couple things that the Course shares that almost nothing else has effectively done, is the difference between the ego and the soul, as well as the difference between reality and illusion.

I've done the workbook, and am almost finished reading the text. It's a very powerful course. I did it because it was highly recommended by Dr David R Hawkins, who knew Helen, the transcriber of the course. Helen heard Jesus Christ speak the course to her through internal revelation (not as a 'voice in her head', but internal realization). As for a fav quote- mine's from Hawkins, but it does apply to the course and its critics "Enslavement by illusion is comfortable, it is the liberation by truth people fear".
