Acne Medication

There are multiple medications for acne and the treatment of acne. There are creams and pills galore. Before you begin any sort of treatment, the best way to figure out the route you should take is to consult a dermatologist. The dermatologist will inform you exactly what type of acne you suffer from and exactly what kind of medication you should follow through with.
If your skin really suffers from acne you may or may not have to take a combination of creams and pills. You have seen the commercials a million times for this product or that product with the idea that they will all begin working with in the first two weeks. If you believe this, you will be sadly mistaken.
As far as some medications go, the majority will begin to show you improvements within a three month period. If you suffer from mild acne, you may want to choose a topical bactericidal, which contains benzoyl peroxide. You can find benzyoyl peroxide in any over the counter face wash. You can also use a topical antibiotic which is slightly more strong.
Topical antiobiotics are just as effective as an oral pill, and side effects can be just as great. Oral antibiotics are taken and have proven successful in the past but as time goes on has proven less successful in reducing the p. acnes.
If you want to go the most dramatic route you can always do hormone treatment. Along with hormone treatment, doctors may or may not give a cortisone shot to reduce inflammation of the skin and help with itching if it is present. This method of medicating will not scar your skin as opposed to direct contact. The hormone treatment will begin to heal from the inside.
A lot of women choose to take estrogen pills or birth control. If you do not want to go the pill route you can always do the phototherapy, which is basically help from the sun. The sun has proven quick relief from acne and has provided a natural way of the medication world. The medication varies far and wide but every solution is different for each and every one.
