Acne Medicine

There are many acne medicine's available to the general public. If you do not want to spend the money, you might want to get something from your local pharmacy (over the counter). If you decide to go the local route and get an over the counter acne medicine, you will want to check out the ingredients of each.

Benzoyl Peroxide, a main ingredient in all acne medications, is responsible for killing the bacteria that accumulates under and on top of your skin. Salicylic acid's job is to unclog the pores. Unclogging the pores is a big thing when it comes to keeping your skin healthy and happy. Glycolic acid, another ingredient, renews the skin after the first two medicine's do their work. The next step is Sulfur, which dries the sebum that is produced and is the main cause of clogging the skins pores. Last, but not least there is Azelaic acid, which normalizes the skin. If you want to go with chemicals, the active ingredients above are what you want to look for.

If you are looking to go the more natural medicine way, you can always go with Green tea, which regulates the skin sebum. Or, if you do not like the idea of the tea, you may like the Tea Tree oil. Tea tree oil has the ability to reduce redness and inflammation of the skin. Allantoin, which is also a key ingredient in natural skin cleaning tools. Allantoin actually stimulates healthy tissue. Licorice root, in combiation with tea tree oil will reduce inflammation and redness, producing a most even skin tone. Olive leaf, which is often used kills bacteria that is created from acne that is already produced above and below the skin.

There are many different kinds of acne medicine that a doctor can prescribe, but it is really just preference. If you do not want the sometimes "nasty" side effects of using chemicals on your skin, then try the natural route and use one of the products that have the healing ability without the extra strain and dryness.

Consult with your dermatologist to determine whether or not the chemical or natural route is for you. Simple skin tests can also determine whether or not you are allergic, which is not always easily identified.
