Acne Herbal Remedies
Many of us prefer to use natural remedies for our ailments instead of an over the counter or prescribed drug. Those who suffer from acne often opt for natural and herbal acne remedies that are easier on sensitive skin and less likely to have unwanted side effects. Using one herbal acne remedy or a combination can help diminish the effects of acne, and lesson the occurrence of further outbreaks. There are many herbal acne remedies that can be utilized and because every person is different, you may need to experiment a bit. The herbal and natural remedies listed below have been around for hundreds of years and are fortunately making a come back in usage. They can be dabbed on your pimples or used on the entire effected area.
Aloe
Aloe vera juice or gel can be used to promote healing and counteract infection. It also will help with healing acne scars. Aloe vera is drying, so if your skin is very sensitive or dry, try mixing it with a mild unscented cream or lotion and applying it to affected areas that way. You can also use the pulp of the plant directly. Just break off a portion of the plant and rub onto the skin. Apple cider vinegar
Dab on affected areas with a cotton ball after cleansing your skin. The acid in apple cider vinegar cleans pores, acts as an astringent and removes excess oil. It also kills bacteria and acts as a normalizer for your skin's pH. Garlic
Rub a raw clove of garlic on your face a few times a day. Garlic has wonderful anti-bacterial properties and is quite effective. The problem with garlic is that it smells better in food than on your face. Still, it is effective when used on acne. Grapefruit Seed Extract
This is a powerful antimicrobial and a great disinfectant. It is extremely strong, and should not be used straight. Dilute by putting about 20 drops in 4 ounces of water and apply with a cotton ball or swab two or three times per day. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice works much like apple cider vinegar. You can apply it to skin at bedtime and wash it off in the morning. Neem oil
Neem is a tropical tree native to India and Myanmar. It is useful for many medicinal purposes. As an herbal remedy for acne, you can apply 1 tablespoon of neem oil mixed with 1/2 cup of almond or olive oil with a cotton swab or cotton ball. Neem is very strong, so you may have to dilute it further if you notice irritation to the skin. Oil of Oregano-
A strong disinfectant, oil of oregano should be diluted with water, a few drops to 4 ounces, and dabbed on the acne. If it causes irritation, dilute it even further. Witch hazel
Tea Tree Oil
A potent anti-microbial, tea tree oil should be saturated a few drops to 4 ounces of water, or with aloe Vera and dabbed on the skin. Herbal Acne Treatment
