This one just crystallized, mostly complete, while I was working on something else.

A small business is a special place. It's where people take a chance on doing what they love...and hoping that the money will follow. That love of what you do makes the uncertainty and the rough spots of starting a small business worth the risk. We see a problem in an area that interests us, we find an interesting solution to it, and we launch an enterprise and share our solution with others.

Whether the problems you love to solve are automotive or medical, computers are probably among your tools. Many of the problems I love are technological. Even in elementary school, I would see a person doing something, and I would imagine how I could make their job easier or more productive using a computer. My tool box has gotten a lot more interesting since the Apple IIe, but the problems and my drive to solve them remains the same.

When I am working on a technology problem, I want everything else - the car, the plumbing, the telephone - to "just work." Most people feel the same way about their computer, but even when the computer is working perfectly, many of us are using only a tiny fraction of the potential help it can offer us in our work and our lives. Computers are complex and fragile tools, and many of us barely scratch the surface of the power and efficiency that these tools put at our fingertips.

That's where Acorn Technologies comes in. We want to be your Information Technology department. In addition to simply performing the maintenance needed to "keep the lights on." we can look at your workflows and your small business as a whole and suggest ways in which your computing environment can contribute more to the efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability of your business. We strive to achieve our mission by focusing skill and expertise on it, not by throwing money at it.

We are located in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but if you live elsewhere and have dragons that can be slain remotely, we would be delighted to speak with you. In addition, we are always on the lookout for charitable organizations who could benefit from our services.
