Learn To Play Acoustic Guitar

• Learn by copying. Videos are great for this.


• Play slowly to begin with. It's better to get it right slowly, than to play up-to-speed but make mistakes.


• Make sure your guitar is at standard pitch. T hen you can play along with the recording, once you can play-to-speed without making mistakes


• Listen to great acoustic guitarists, in lots of styles. You can make a start by watching the You Tube videos at the end of this lens.


• If you are going to sing, start singing as soon as you can play the chords, don't spend too long learning guitar without singing at the same time. It is much more difficult to start singing along later.


• Don't just practise sitting down. Get used to playing standing up with a strap.


• Record yourself playing, you don't need to let anyone else listen. Listening to your recordings will let you hear how you are improving.


• You may only be able to play 15 minutes at a time to begin with. That's OK, just try to play every day and have a plan. What am I going to learn today? What am I going to improve?


• Learn the notes on the fretboard. This is vital to your development as a guitarist. I know so many guitarists who even after years do not know the notes at each fret. It's easy to learn with a system like Guitar Note Mastery. So just do it!
