SquidActivists October Challenge for Animals
Ranked #1,025 in Nonprofits, #237,203 overall | Donates to FIV Cat Rescue
Here's a fun contest to raise awareness and money for relatively small animal charities
You choose the lens topic. It (they) can be about anything -- your favorite ice cream or jelly bean; your philosophy on love or life; how to play a game or paint a bear; your pet or your kid; or maybe a lens about the charity you support. If you can think it, it's fair game for a lens.
Join the fun and make money for the animal charity of your choice.Don't forget to vote!

The Qualifying Squidoo Animal Charities
I chose lesser known charities for this contest. I'll hold more contests later for other animal charities.
Chimp Haven
Chimp Haven serves as The National Chimpanzee Sanctuary. We are an independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide lifetime care for chimpanzees who have been retired from medical research, the entertainment industry or no longer wanted as pets.
FCNMHP (First Coast No More Homeless Pets)
Their goal is to eliminate the killing of dogs and cats in our community (Jacksonville, Florida) through free and low-cost spay and neuter programs. They also spay and neuter feral cats; just opened a temporary cat clinic to handle upwards of 40 cats per day and they also offer vaccinations for cats and dogs.
Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter - Cleveland, Ohio
Ferrets Unlimited is a non-profit, no kill ferret shelter in Cleveland, Ohio.
Longhopes Donkey Shelter
The mission of Longhopes Donkey Shelter, Inc. is to rescue, shelter, rehabilitate and find permanent homes for donkeys that would otherwise be destroyed for meat consumption overseas.
RabbitRescue Finding homes for domestic rabbits in Ontario
Rabbit Rescue Inc. is a registered charity dedicated to finding new homes for domestic rabbits that have been abused, abandoned or neglected. We work with numerous shelters across Ontario.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary, formerly the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Center, near Denver, CO and is a state and federally licensed zoological facility. They have been rescuing exotic wildlife and endangered species since 1980. The residents of our Wild Animal Sanctuary were abandoned, abused, illegally kept, or came from other terrible situations.
Wildlife SOS - India Bear Rescue WSOS save Sloth Bears from the barbaric, centuries-old tradition of being enslaved and trained as Dancing Bears. 491 bears have been saved so far with a goal to save the remaining 200 by 2010. They also have programs to: stop the bear poachers; retrain the bear dancers for new occupations; train the women in the family and educate the children. They are saving bears and changing lives at the same time!
