Maternity or Labor Acupressure

Maternity Acupressure (or Labor Acupressure) is a safe and natural holistic method that can have an extremely positive effect in preparing the mother and the baby for the birth. It's a very simple hands-on non-intrusive technique that is similar to acupuncture - but without the needles. It uses only application of pressure on specific spots on the skin and can be safely used at home with basic instructions. Maternity Acupressure is highly recommended to ease discomforts of pregnancy and childbirth.

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that deals with the human body and the flow of natural energy within the body. It is based upon the same principles as acupuncture, the only difference is that it uses fingers to stimulate specific points instead of needles. It's an ancient approach to restoring and maintaining health, balancing the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Acupressure has been actively and effectively practiced by millions of people for thousands of years.

Acupressure and Pregnancy

Acupressure is known to be beneficial for a great number of health related issues, but can also be extremely helpful before and during childbirth.

It has been proven to be effective in inducing labor naturally by helping in descending the baby, ripening and dilating the cervix, and making the contractions more frequent and successful.

Labor Acupressure is one of the most effective natural labor inducing remedies known today. It is also, by far, the best and safest way to lessen labor pain and stress without having to resort to drugs and medicines. Research also shows that it significantly shortens the delivery time. Women who use maternity acupressure have a two hour shorter delivery time than the average.

The benefits of labor acupressure before and during childbirth:

  • Induce labor naturally
  • Strengthen contractions
  • Relieve labor pains
  • Keep you calm and relaxed
  • Better dilation
  • Turn a posterior baby
  • Stop nausea and vomiting
  • Maximizes the probability of having a normal and natural birth with a minimum of medical interventions
Labor acupressure technique is very easy to master and has no side effects. Scientific evidence proves that using acupressure to induce labor naturally is very effective and safe for both the mother and the baby.

I didn't know that acupressure can also be used in pregnancy. I hope this can also do wonders for depression. My pregnant friend is suffering from depression and is prescribed with Zoloft. However, we learned Zoloft birth defects can happen to the baby and we were hoping that she'll have alternative treatment other than medications.
