The Power of Green Tea
You may have heard a lot of hype recently about green tea. It is being touted as a wonder food, full of antioxidants (polyphenols) and great for your health.
What first started this craze is the fact that many Chinese and Japanese people, who have enjoyed drinking green tea on a regular basis for centuries, are very healthy. In recent years researchers decided to determine a link between the two.
Green tea is purported to:
* Decrease the risk of cancer
* Benefit the symptoms of arthritis by relieving inflammation
* Boost immune system
* Boost metabolism
Now they have added an additional benefit - the ability to prevent gum disease. A recent Japanese study has shown that the larger the daily intake of green tea, the less possibility of suffering from gum disease.
Now drinking a cup of green tea every day is certainly no reason to cancel your next dental appointment. But rest assured that a cup of green tea a day will probably keep the oral surgeon away!

Are You a Dental Professional? Then Your Job Should Be Safe.
You don't have to brush your teeth - just the ones you want to keep. ~Author Unknown
We all know this quote tells the truth. But brushing your teeth is not the only thing that will keep them clean and healthy. You must maintain your dental health with proper care from a certified professional.
But as the economy worsens and more and more workers are laid off, this seems to be harder to accomplish.
Some areas of the U.S. offer free or very low cost dental clinics. However, as additional Americans lose their health insurance benefits, these clinics are getting far more busy, and finding themselves unable to keep up with demand.
What is the moral of the this story? If you are someone trained to do dental work, such as a hygienist, your job should be safe. And more power to you.
