Adam and the Ants started out as a Punk Rock band in the late 1970's but made the cross-over in the early 80's to join the Post Punk New Wave music revolution.
Although they never completely gave up their Punk roots, they softened their look and sound through the use of elaborate costumes, make-up, and dance beat music to take their place at the forefront of the New Wave music revolution.
MTV, the then new music television station, made Adam and the Ants legends.

Adam & the Ants were a New Wave band during the late 1970s and early 1980s. They were one of the bands at the time that marked the transition from the 70s punk rock era to the New Wave post-punk music era. Although the band started off with a punk-influenced sound, it soon moved on to New Wave, motivated by new sources such as the drum-heavy "Burundi Beat" heard on their 1980 album, Kings of the Wild Frontier.

What's the Connection?
At the height of the group's fame, Adam and the Ants members included, Adam Ant, Marco Pirroni, Gary Tibbs, Terry Lee Miall, and Merrick.Former members, Matthew Ashman, Leigh Gorman and Dave Barbarossato left the band in 1980. They combined with Annabella Lwin to become the successful group known as Bow Wow Wow.
Adam and the Ants completely disbanded in 1982 when Adam Ant went on to persue a solo career. He did however continue writing songs with Marco Pirroni

He is also an actor, having appeared in two dozen films or television episodes between 1985 and 1999.
