Adbrite Tips and Tricks - How to Maximize your revenue from Adbrite

Adbrite is a powerful publishing tool. Similar to Google's Adsense, Adbrite will publish ads on your site that you are then paid for through a variety of ways. Here, we seek to explore some of those ways and what has and has not worked.


So if you need an alternative to Google's Adsense, then Adbrite is the next best thing with less restrictions.

Traditional Ad Types

These are the basic products Adbrite Offers

Adbrite Offers three different kinds of ads. Here is a quick breakdown of each type:

  • Inline Ads

    • These Ads turn up to 8 different words of content on the page into links with a green double line under them. When you mouse over the link, a clickable ad pops up. You can check out an example of this over at my personal finance blog, The Grumpstump.


  • Text and Image Ads

    • These are remotely similar to Google's Ads in appearance. However, they are NOT contextually targeted, which allows them to be on the same page as Adsense.


  • Interstertial Ads

    • These ads are full screen size and appear after the visitor has viewed a few pages of your site. A 'continue to site' button in the upper right of the screen is clicked to continue browsing.

Adbrite Video Ads - Invideo Features and Tips

Adbrite has recently expanded their Ad Lineup offering with Video Ads. Currently, they are one of the easiest and most popular ways to monetize video material. Their Program has a couple of key features:

  • Flash Videos

    • Flash Video Format is currently the only one supported by Adbrite. However, this is a good thing as Flash is a universal language that plays on anyone's computer with a free plug-in.You can export directly to FLV format using Adobe Premier.


  • Fully Customizable media playerAdbrite Invideo Sample Media Player

    • You have control over a large number of options including:

      • Syndication

      • Autoplay

      • Linkbacks

      • Watermarking

      • Keyword Targeting

      • and more!


  • Viral Earning potential

    • Adbrite's InVideo System allows publishers to earn money even when the video is viewed on other sites. This is a huge benefit as videos tend to grow in popularity by being posted across the net.

Adbrite Britepic - Image Ad Network

Sample Image using the BritePic Ad SystemAdbrite isn't done yet! They have created a way to monetize pictures as well! Britepic is a way to add mouse-over ads, community-style menus, and watermarking to your pictures on the web.

The code for Britepic does use the <script> tag so make sure you have use of this tag on the site you want to add pictures to.

Adbrite has a very easy to use interface that will let you create your image ads in a few steps.

My Experience with the AdBrite Program

I've been using Adbrite for a couple of months now.Here are a few of my thoughts:

  • I feel the Inline Ads add some interactivity to the site without being to obtrusive. However, the Click rate on them is fairly low.

  • I am using the 'Your Ad Here' ad units for a targeted directory-type site I am running. I'm hoping that as it grows, people will buy ad space on the site. I think this is one of the cooler features of AdBrite. they are called 'Flexible Zones' and you can find them in the Publisher Dashboard.

  • The Interstitial Ads are great revenue generators, a few hits a day will make you money on them. However, I removed them from my blog shortly after trying them out. There was a massive backlash from my readers about the random page that would insert itself in my site. This ad type probably works better on a more product or news article driven site, not a blog.

  • The statistics program will show you which ads appeared in which zones. The stat tracking is adequate, but not exceptional.

  • I have not had a chance to try the InVideo or BritePic programs yet and am interested to hear of other people's experience with them.
