    Some "basic" but important steps are missing- like the END. How do I make the dotted line go away and finish adding the hat? :0(

    Hey Cynthia, the dotted line should go away when you anchor the layer the hat is in. You should see your pointer turn into an anchor when you move it over from the layer you are working on to the base image. Where ever you see the pointer change into an anchor, just click and the layer will be anchored. You can also undo the anchor by using undo in the edit menu so you can reposition the hat layer again.
