Show off your great photos and graphics!

Not only do images look great on your lenses, lensmasters and readers LOVE to see them! There are tons of great reasons to add images to your lenses - promote your hand-made crafts, show off your original artwork or photography, and add 1000 extra words to any article by putting the "show" in show and tell.

Learn how to add your own images to lenses, plus how to find Creative Commons images to use free of charge!

Add a little image to the Text / Write Module

The Text / Write module allows you to add a little image that shows in the top right corner of your text. This is a great way to display a thumbnail image to further describe whatever you're talking about, and it breaks up large groups of text on the page.

This image is uploaded directly from your computer. So you must own it, or have permission to use it, and have it saved on your computer.

Add a BIG image to the Text with BIG Picture Module

If a little image isn't going to cut it for you, you can add a BIGGER image using the Text with BIG Picture module.

This image is uploaded directly from your computer. So you must own it, or have permission to use it, and have it saved on your computer.

Add your own image using HTML

If you want to add an image using HTML, you can do that in the Text / Write module. You can also do this in many other modules, such as the Text List module, which comes in handy for adding thumbnails to list items.

For these images, you do not need to have them loaded in on your computer, but you MUST own them or have permission to use them, and have permission to use them from the location they are stored. (So no stealing people's bandwidth, k?)

You can do this with your own photos hosted on Flickr or other photo hosting sites, using the HTML they provide for you. If you do this, make sure you follow their directions regarding linking and copyrights. For example, Flickr requires that any image hosted on their site also link back to it.

Use MY Fav, the Photo Gallery!

Here I'm showing of a few random funny photos.

Add Creative Commons licensed photos with the Flickr module

Due to a few complaints of abuse, the terms of the Flickr module have recently been changed. Now letting Flickr pick and adding your own images using URLs will allow only CC licensed images to display. This is fine, though, if you're showing off other people's CC licensed images. If you're using your own, you may run into problems here, so use one of the methods above.

Below I've let Flickr pick some great photos of piano keys, just to show you what displays.

Learn more about using CC images through Flickr

I never used to have many images on my lenses because I couldn't afford to buy stock photos for all 300 of my lenses. Now, I use CC licensed images through Flickr to add color to my lenses AND show off the colorful, creative work of others.

Add an image to the Blackbox Module

You can add an HTML image to the Blackbox (which comes in many colors) to create a cute frame for a smaller image.

For these images, you do not need to have them loaded in on your computer, but you MUST own them or have permission to use them, and have permission to use them from the location they are stored.

Add these using this format: <A HREF="http://www.linkyouwant.com"><IMG SRC="http://www.yourdomain.com/imagetitle.gif"></a>

Add an image to the StickyNote Module

Not as effective as the Blackbox module, you CAN add an image to the StickyNote module, if you really want.

The image below is a snapshot of mine.

Uninteresting?

Flickr says this is uninteresting. I think it's totally interesting.

Make your Image The Most Important Thing

If you have an important image to show off, put it in The Most Important Thing module!

Frame a photo with the Polaroid Module

Before the Text with BIG Picture module, there was the Polaroid. And it's great!
