I had never considered the possibility of a Paypal button. Fantastic! Very useful information that I can apply in the near future. Thank you!
  • MaryQuinlin Feb 4, 2012 @ 3:02 am | delete
Such a useful lens! I had no idea you could add a Paypal button to Squidoo. Thank you!
  • CherryTriggerCola Jan 28, 2012 @ 6:00 pm | delete
Awesome lens! Now I know these buttons are available to use in Squidoo.
  • pablina Dec 20, 2011 @ 10:13 am | delete
Very useful and something I may consider using in the future.
  • LiteraryMind Nov 18, 2011 @ 9:11 am | delete
Wow! I found this lens through SquidU. I am so happy! I was wondering how to do this. Thank you very much.
  • MelissaInTheSky Nov 12, 2011 @ 5:07 am | delete
Thanks for this helpful lens! I needed this info and I really appreciate you laying it out so clearly. Hey, Fluff? Another module idea that would be useful and interesting would either be links to lenses that use paypal well or else some screen shots of well designed paypal lenses. I would love to see how the buttons look in action. :)
  • hartworks Nov 11, 2011 @ 3:12 pm | delete
Perfect! Just did a SquidU search on paypal, and someone referred to this lens in a thread there. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for.... if only life could be like this all the time!
  • BarbaraCasey Nov 9, 2011 @ 7:37 am | delete
Another great idea to try, thanks. Whenever I have a Squidoo how-to question, I look for thefluffanutta first. And wanted to say thank you for your generous support to us non-techies. I have your bookmark button on most of my lenses and I see that I need to browse your list of lenses some more. Much as I like Dr. Who, it's the hows that I love most. Cheers!

Very useful tool -- as always. Thanks for the clear explanation, too.
  • Lindrus Aug 3, 2011 @ 11:23 pm | delete

More excellent advice! I bookmarked this page for when I'm ready to use it, thank you so much for making so much information available!

Thanks for this very helpful lens, Fluffanutta - however, after I added this PayPal button to my lens, I was dismayed to see (when I clicked onto it to see if it would work) that my e-mail address is prominently displayed there, even though I had followed your instructions to select "Secure Merchant Account ID" after Step 1. What do you suppose I did wrong?

So when a customer wants to buy something from me on my Lens they press the PayPal button and then what will they see? What happens after they press?
  • thefluffanutta Jun 27, 2011 @ 4:03 am | delete
They see the purchase screen on PayPal, where they can sign in with their account or select to pay with Visa/Mastercard. Try it yourself and you'll see...

yes was exatly what i need
  • Sussy_Holguin May 4, 2011 @ 1:02 pm | delete
Can you please tell me, with more details how? I'm new and i try to many times but with no results
  • thefluffanutta May 5, 2011 @ 4:59 am | delete
Make sure that you are using the PayPal URL for email, as the regular web links won't work. You then need to turn this link into a clickable link using HTML.

I always have problem with my paypal account. I prefer use moneybookers.

FINALLY I DID IT! I managed to create my own paypal button. With your instructions it was really simple, only I should wear my glasses more often to see where exactly between "" I should paste the code. Many many thanks!

lensrolled and favorited! Awesome lens, great tips!
  • 4U2C Dec 14, 2010 @ 8:35 am | delete
Great! I have you "favorited", so I can implement some of these. Use them, already, on one of my enterprises, but did not know we could use them on Squidoo! Thank you, as always, for your untiring efforts to help us all succeed!
  • hemant_p_gokhale Nov 18, 2010 @ 2:01 am | delete
Thanks for the tips.I will add these buttons to my lense
  • Blueyedbeauty Nov 15, 2010 @ 2:33 pm | delete
Well I have a paypal account and when I followed the instructions above, using Standard website payments, I only had one option of code - the website - not the email html. In navagation paypal, it looks like I have to be signed up for the virtual terminal, but I still do not know if it will work as you say. Can you give me any insight as to what I may be doing wrong???? Thanks in advance :)
  • Momsbusy247 Nov 11, 2010 @ 5:33 pm | delete
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you
  • chrissuard Nov 11, 2010 @ 2:20 pm | delete

  • Gloriousconfusion Nov 10, 2010 @ 7:03 pm | delete
Great stuff - I've been looking to do this for a long time.
Just one question: Suppose I am selling my item, say a pair of earrings for argument's sake, on my own personal website and it has its own PayPal button there - Can I link to the same item through my squidoo lens Pay Pal Button, rather than create a completely fresh PayPal link? The reason I would want to do this is because I only have the one set of earrings, so if it is sold on Squidoo, I would not want someone else trying to buy it from my website using PayPal and then I would have to refund the payment to them.

This is as ingenious as all your ideas. Is there a plexo somewhere with lenses that have used this? I'd like to see them!
  • thefluffanutta Oct 12, 2009 @ 10:59 am | in reply to Ener-G | delete
You should be able to put a PayPal button in to any module, if you've got your HTML code correct...
  • Ener-G Oct 9, 2009 @ 8:09 am | delete
Okay, I tried the code for putting in a "button image" but couldn't get it to work. Are there certain modules it won't work in? I tried it in a Text Module, Text Link, Big Black Box and The Most Important Thing....
  • Ener-G Oct 8, 2009 @ 11:47 pm | delete
    Fluff, you're the best!

Thank you for your quick response on Squidu. You are always so helpful. One more question:

How do I set this up so that the person buying pays the shipping? I am sure that it will cost differently depending on where it is shipped to?

  • MyDinoShirts May 10, 2009 @ 6:33 pm | delete
Nice Lens...I like the detailed help with the HTML code it will save me time from figuring it out. I will try it on my t-shirt lens. If you get a chance checkout Paystr for Online Payments, it is another useful way to utilize PayPal.
  • thefluffanutta Apr 20, 2009 @ 3:43 am | in reply to JSB1022 | delete
Nope - the #ID is unique to each button you create, and the only thing anyone can do with it is send you money. You email address will appear on the checkout page on PayPal, but you can replace this with your own logo if you wish.
  • Apr 19, 2009 @ 9:50 pm | delete
Anyone can right-click the link and read your (or my) ID number given to us by paypal. Is this bad? Can anyone do something with my ID #?
  • cleona Apr 19, 2009 @ 5:12 pm | delete
Thanks much! I just created a donation button on my lens. Yes, I'm raising money to help pay for my aunt's cancer treatments.

    Hello Fluffanutta:

I'll never forget the first time I attempted to put a PayPal Button on my page. I couldn't even find the place inside payPal to do it!

I called one of their "help" people. They were VERY HARD to understand AND every time I asked a specific question I had to endure "hold music" while they asked somebody who might know!

I eventually DID get it worked out, however, and I detailed the process like an IRS audit. Including how to get the final sales page in PayPal to have a link to the download page!

    Good Job!

Hmm, I was thinking of adding a Paypal button to my lens about my novel, in case someone wanted to purchase a copy, but, after reading your information about having to disable the encrypting, I think I'll just leave things as is with a link to the purchase page on my own site. Thank you for this help!
  • prayerful44 Jan 17, 2009 @ 6:40 pm | delete
    Hello,

I am desperately looking for anything that says "security settings". I have also done a search in help and it does not come up. I asked the virtual helper and all other subjects come up other than anything called security settings. Could you please tell me where they are? I have done a find on each page that I have gone to and nothing. Even on the donation button page, there is no option for encryption.

Thanks! I didn't know you could do this. This'll be great for charity lenses where visitors can click and donate directly to the charity from the lens. It'll also be good for ebay, amazon, cafepress, and other online sellers.
  • clouda9 May 11, 2008 @ 11:45 pm | delete
Good information, I'll have to weigh the good and not so good when I decide to do this. Thank you for sharing.
  • EelKat Apr 3, 2008 @ 8:48 am | delete
    nice!

I had tried adding a paypal button a while back, but it didn't work and I just figured they weren't allowed on Squidoo. Didn't even think to try using the email code. I'll have to go test this out now.
