You Know What You Know
You may not know or don't want to know. I didn't know what was going on right under my nose. Every time I suspected I questioned my self because an addict is really good at lying and making you feel guilty for asking because they cannot have you get in the way of their drug use. Don't think for a minute that this person would not lie to you because yes, they will they are no longer themselves and are controlled by the drug. You are not crazy you know what you know. They really believe that it is not obvious like they haven't changed. Because, in their eyes they have it under control. If you have some one like this in your life please trust your self, protect yourself and hide any thing valuable because it wont be long before it disappears.

Signs and symptoms
Things to look for if you suspect drugs
A dull, vacant look and puffiness inthe eyes (Ganja can cause redness
of the eyes)
Heroin and depressant drug abusers
have droopy, half-sleepy eyes
Loss of weight, looking tired, rundown
or sickly, will vomit without reason
Unsteady movements, slurred and
unclear speech
Is withdrawn and does not interact
with others as he used to, or spends
a lot of time alone
Is secretive about his phone calls,
visits and belongings
Inexplicable mood shifts - seems
happy at times and irritable at
others
Eats and sleeps too much or too little
and erratically with no discernable
pattern
Lethargic, with little interestin activities
that interested him previously
Has little or no concern for his
personal appearance or health
Poor attendance at school/college/
workplace
Decline in work/academic performance
Presence of syringes or silver foils
or the drug itself
Increased demands for money
A combination of these signs seen
repeatedly over a period of time can point
to drug addiction.

Family's Initial Reaction
When the family members notice certain
changes in the abuser, they may initially
be apprehensive and confused. They may
be ambivalent about whether or not to
intervene. Some may be afraid of the
person, others may be angry and ashamed.
I can not tell you how every person will react. I know for the longest time I lived with shame and guilt. I was so depressed at one time that I actually took myself to the hospital because I was suicidal. I did not know what to do how to act. I begged and pleaded for the addict to stop hurting me and our family. I felt so alone. I was ashamed to tell others what was going on. I had no controll and my life was spirally out of control. It was two years before I could step up and tell the people around me the truth. That little step as made all the difference in my life. I now have the entire extended family involved in helping to help him. I am no longer ashamed because I have nothing to be ashamed of. If any one out there is siting in this hopeless position I urge you to scream it out to the world. It helps.
