But they are pretty different in design compared to what the original superstar looks like.

which do look like the original superstar and still look very girly..

I just learned that it´s time for a revival of the Superstar 2G.

I have 2G 1st gen myself but I don´t really like em..

The Adidas Superstar 2G 08
is ok I think, not that huge as the original 2G.

I went to Munich this week and on my way back home I made a quick stop in Herzogenaurach, the city where Adolf Dassler had lived and Adidas still resides..

When I got my first pair of Superstar or "Soups" back in the days when I was a little boy..(some 20 years ago..)my Dad bought me a plain white pair of Adidas Superstar 1
Sneakers.

I hated to wear them and felt ashamed. Really hated them. Those were the times when Nike was the non-plus-ultra in terms of cool sneakers.

As a german, adidas would have been the last option ever considered.(The same with Puma, but that´s another story..)

Then, in the late 90´s, when the Adidas Superstar became popular in the media, everything changed.

I was never the first to follow a trend, but when I finally decided to get myself a pair of superstars, I couldn´t get them anywhere.

So I went from shop to shop and finally I had to buy a pair that wasn´t even my size..

I remember they were classic white with black stripes. A shame I don´t have em anymore..

In 2001 I bought a pair of Adidas Superstar 2G
´s in the states which are still in great condition.

After some reeboks and pumas I decided to stick with the superstar.

So I got myself some comfy
Adidas Superstar 2
´s in white w/ brown stripes about 2 years ago..still wear em.

My latest pair of Soups is the Philadelphia 76ers from the
Adidas Superstar NBA Series
,really love it.

It was back in 1969, when Adolf Dassler created the
Adidas Superstar
. It was officially presented in 1970. Firstly it was handed to Basketball Players exclusively for testing purposes.

This was long before the breakthru of the Adidas Superstar as a trendy fashion shoe.

The most remarkable element of the superstar shoe is the so-called "Shelltoe", the toe-cap made of rubber, looking kind of like a piece of a basketball. Some Vintage-Models did not have those because the basketball players found it too uncomfortable.

In the mid 80´s the superstar became a famous fashion item when, it showed up in various Rap and Hiphop Videos.

Next to the original adidas superstar(Vintage) there are plenty of other variation of them today like many models of the adidas superstar
1 (the one from the videos), the
Adidas Superstar 2
(a more comfortable version of the superstar)and many more.

Further there are superstar models especially for women like the Adidas Superstar Sleek or Adidas Superstar Ballerina.

Some models, especially the vintage and Adidas Superstar 35th. anniversary
models are very sought after by collectors nowadays.

The most likely highest priced model was a special Superstar dedicated to Salvatore Dhali. The shoe was gild and it´s lashes´tips were diamonds.It achieved an unbelievable 2,5 Million GBP at a Sotheby´s auction.
