Care after Surgery

If you or someone you love has undergone surgery, the quality of the post-operative care you receive at home is just as important to healing as the skill of your surgeon. Having surgery is just one step to getting well: encourage proper and total healing is the next step. Here is a quick overview of how to go about helping yourself heal right through the use of adjustable beds and other post-surgery aids.

Adjustable Beds

Not getting the right amount of restful sleep is hugely detrimental to the healing process. Even if you have been prescribed pain killers or sleeping aids, they do nothing to ensure that your body is in the right physical position to encourage faster healing. Adjustable beds are not hospital beds, but they do offer some of the same benefits: the ability to raise your head when needed; the ability to keep your knees elevated, etc.

One of the nicest things about an adjustable bed is that it looks like a regular bed, and you can continue to enjoy choosing your optimal sleeping positions long after your surgery without dealing with the encumbrances of railings. If you've had back, knee or hip surgery, making the switch to an adjustable bed may actually prevent recurring problems and the need for additional operations. Now is the time to get serious about your nighttime comfort: so much depends on your getting the kind of quality rest you need.

Home Care Professionals

Chances are good that you've been ordered by your medical professionals to take it easy after your surgery and not to exert yourself anymore than is absolutely needed. If your spouse is working or if the demands of running your household are simply too much for one person to handle, do yourself a favor by hiring a home care professional for a week or two. There are all kinds of different types of providers who can handle: light housekeeping, fix-it work, cooking and personal care if you need it. Your peace of mind and keeping stress levels to a minimum will greatly facilitate your healing process; so it's worth spending a few hundred dollars to bring extra help it when you need it most. Remember: it's not a long-term commitment; it's just a stop-gap measure till you are your old self again.

Bathing Aids

If your ease of movement is restricted during healing, make bathing easier by getting a bath transfer bench as well as a hand-held shower head to use while you get well. A bench allows you to safely and easily slide into the bath without having to take that potentially dangerous first step into the tub and risking further injury. A hand-held shower head allows you to bathe yourself unassisted if your prefer without having to stand and risk slipping.

Even the most autonomous person needs to baby himself a bit from time to time: especially if you've just been through surgery. Adjustable beds, home care professionals and bathing aids are just a few of the options out there to help make the healing process as fast and as comfortable as possible.

The post-surgical care is also as important as pre-surgical and surgical care because like the hip implant patients who needs extra care to avoid fresh implants being dislocated to which some Pinnacle Lawsuit being filed are related with these kind incidents.
