A whole new theory behind the autism-vaccine connection

Here is the freshest and best in the theories behind the autism and vaccines link: it addresses the dangers of adjuvants, chemicals in every vaccine that are designed to inflame and irritate the immune system so that it pays more attention to whatever disease the vaccine is carrying.

(This is a Bad Science lens.)

The rate of autism is directly time-associated with the increased vaccines given to our infants.

But MMR vaccines and Thimerosal-laden vaccines are both off the market! Why is this still happening?

Adjuvants may hold the key.

The newest research into the vaccine-autism connection.

Adjuvant -- an ingredient added to a vaccine to inflame the immune system.

I'm going to directly quote an article by Byron Richards of NaturalNews.com. He says it all more clearly than I could.

****

Vaccines contain weakened "signatures" of a disease. By themselves they are not strong enough for the immune system to mount a response. This problem is solved by adding a "booster" compound called an adjuvant. An adjuvant does not contain any signature of the disease. Rather, the adjuvant initiates an inflammatory reaction (the first step in any immune response). The idea is to get the immune system revved up so that it can see the weakened disease and learn what it looks like so that if it ever sees it again it will be more prepared to fight it. This concept, in and of itself, has validity - but only given the right set of circumstances.

It is clear that those with autism have an excessively inflamed brain. If pressed, the CDC would likely argue that the brain inflammation is a result of the autism and that they need more studies to determine the cause. I will argue that they don't need any more studies at all and that the cause is blatantly obvious based on an understanding of existing science. The multiple inflammatory insults from the adjuvant in vaccines, at a rate of 1 in 150 cases, sets the brain on fire and causes autism. As an aside, and to a lesser extent (but just as important to society), a minor brush fire causes ADHD and impaired intelligence.

...

Glial cells are the inflammation brokers in your brain. When stress, a toxin pollutant, or a destructive food additive (like MSG, aspartame, or food coloring) enter your brain they induce excitotoxic reactions that inflame brain cells. This inflammation is buffered primarily by the hormone leptin and other antioxidants, a process that intimately involves the healthy function of glial cells.

When the buffering anti-inflammatory capacity of glial cells is overloaded, then inflammation becomes chronic. Minimally, this results in brain wear and tear. It is the mechanism behind all accelerated brain aging and, depending on a person's genetic weaknesses and other health issues, leads to various states of early cognitive decline and nerve-related diseases of aging such as Alzheimer's.

There is also a point at which low grade brain inflammation catches fire. In adults with an established nerve network this causes a "power outage" in the head, otherwise known as spreading depression. Such an event is typically triggered by emotional pain or physical pain of a prolonged nature or acute intensity (elevating substance P to abnormally high levels). Such trauma pushes struggling nerves over the edge.

The difference in a fetus or small child is that the nervous system is still rapidly evolving. If the brain catches fire at this age proper development of the nerves can be seriously disturbed (the autism spectrum of disorders) or functionally impaired (ADHD, lower IQ).

The adjuvant in vaccine is pro-inflammatory; i.e., neurologically excitotoxic. That is intentional so as to boost the effectiveness of the vaccine. The problem comes about when giving so many of them at once, which can injure even a perfectly healthy child. Giving multiple adjuvants is like playing Russian roulette with a child's brain. Children with already inflamed nerves are at much higher risk for reacting to multiple vaccines, as their nerves have been conditioned to hyper-react.

So, even if you're not convinced by the correlation between increased autism and more rapid vaccination schedules -- or the labeling scams of the pharmaceutical companies and the Thimerosal controversy -- here is solid research done by someone who has keen insight into an aspect of the problem that most people are entirely unaware of.

Convinced yet?

Vindication!

From ScienceDaily (Nov. 18, 2008)

A team of scientists have investigated a case of vaccine-associated chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and macrophagic myofasciitis in an individual demonstrating aluminium overload.

This is the first report linking aluminium overload with either of the two conditions and the possibility is considered that the coincident aluminium overload contributed significantly to the severity of these conditions in a patient.

he team, led by Dr Chris Exley, of the Birchall Centre at Keele University in Staffordshire, UK, has found a possible mechanism whereby vaccination involving aluminium-containing adjuvants could trigger the cascade of immunological events that are associated with autoimmune conditions, including chronic fatigue syndrome and macrophagic myofasciitis.

--For those of you who didn't read all those big words, the bold portion basically reaffirms what I said earlier -- adjuvants cause autoimmune disorders, one of which is autoimmune encephalitis, which is responsible for a wide variety of problems from autism to ADD. --

The CFS in a 43-year-old man, with no history of previous illness, followed a course of five vaccinations, each of which included an aluminium-based adjuvant. The latter are extremely effective immunogens in their own right and so improve the immune response to whichever antigen is administered in their presence. While the course of vaccinations was cited by an industrial injuries tribunal as the cause of the CFS in the individual, it was not likely to be a cause of the elevated body burden of aluminium. The latter was probably ongoing at the time when the vaccinations were administered and it is proposed that the cause of the CFS in this individual was a heightened immune response, initially to the aluminium in each of the adjuvants and thereafter spreading to other significant body stores of aluminium.

The result was a severe and ongoing immune response to elevated body stores of aluminium, which was initiated by a course of five aluminium adjuvant-based vaccinations within a short period of time. There are strong precedents for delayed hypersensitivity to aluminium in children receiving vaccinations which include aluminium-based adjuvants, with as many as 1% of recipients showing such a response.

--Again, let me step in and repeat that in layman's terms: 1 in 100 CHILDREN HAVE A STRONG REACTION TO THE ADJUVANTS IN VACCINES. Is it any wonder, then, given the huge quantities of aluminum adjuvants that we're pumping into our kids' veins, that 1 in 150 are becoming autistic? --

While the use of aluminium-based adjuvants may be safe, it is also possible that for a significant number of individuals they may represent a significant health risk, such as was found in this case. With this in mind the ongoing programme of mass vaccination of young women in the UK against the human papilloma virus (HPV) with a vaccine which uses an aluminium based adjuvant may not be without similar risks.

-- The HPV vaccine is such a joke. It's not effective against all of the types of HPV that cause cancer, they don't know how long the limited protection it does offer lasts, and 99.9% of HPV infections don't ever cause cancer in the first place. This is seriously an occurance of advertising creating a problem that doesn't exist so that Merck can make more money. Now we're hearing that, in addition to being useless, it might be actively dangerous. Just don't do it! --

Recent press coverage of myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome has highlighted the potentially debilitating nature of this disease and related conditions. The cause of CFS is unknown.

Or maybe not?

Tell me why I'm wrong!

I am thrilled to bits when people share knowledge that is, in my cynical view of the world, left out of the Government's marketing package for dubious reasons. Communication between industrialists and their marketplace takes place through the not very transparent medium of power politics and I rather suspect we are being lied to by scientists who play a significant part in the exorbitant inflow of cash.
Conspiracy theories are a legitimate tool used by people who feel they are being deliberately kept in the dark to poke around in the world of political intrigue and skulduggery. I understand theory and I know the activity is irksome to many scientists who are tarred with the wrong brush but I feel that the scientists who know their colleagues are for instance subverting regulatory guidelines should be free to spill the beans.
We need more dedicated reporters in every industry willing to spill the beans

You're right on about the vaccines. Time to dig deeper and peel back the layers of the onion even more and look how vaccines disrupt growth factor (cytokine) functioning which is responsible for cell-to-cell communications and overall immuno-neuro-endocrine system functioning. Then you have immune problems with viruses and bacteria, digestive problems, and communication problems, but to name several. Homeopathic FGF-2, hGH, IGF-1, TGFb1 and other growth factors have been shown to help. Homeopathic because the concentrations growth factors are physiologically present are at essentially homeopathic levels. Just some thoughts.

You know, this doesn't sound unlikely at all. There is just so little we understand about the immune system. Why are we more allergic than people were a century ago? What is an allergy anyhow?
