Visit Adkins Arboretum on the Eastern Shore

Located in Ridgely, Maryland, Adkins Arboretum is a great day trip destination for Maryland gardeners or nature lovers, especially those interested in native plants, green gardening and land stewardship. And for folks on their way to Maryland or Delaware beaches or other Eastern shore activities a stop at Adkins Arboretum can offer a welcome respite from busy weekend traffic snarls. Located off of Rt 404 across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, for the modest sum of $3 you can stroll through a mature hardwood forest, learn about native plants, walk open meadows and observe frogs and other wildlife in restored wetland habitats. Don't miss the gift shop located in the visitor center stocked with gardening books, art exhibits and beautiful hand made crafts carefully selected for their nature designs. Entrance fee: $3 for Adults.
