Family Bike Rides
Since the invention of the bicycle, it has been a pleasure for parents to teach a child how to ride a bike. From the time the little one first starts walking, mobility, and exploring the great outdoors, becomes a very huge deal! Nearly everyone enjoys riding bikes at one point in their life or another. The benefits of experiencing the outdoors with family and friends is immeasurable! Bike Riding
for me...
My Physical Challenges

Bike Ride
My first ride with my family

I'll never forget my first bike ride with my family. My kids were ABSOLUTELY THRILLED that I was able to ride bikes with them! The smiles on their little faces were just priceless! We ended up taking the basket off the back of the adult trike and replacing it with a baby seat, so I was able to take my littlest one along for the ride, too.
There just aren't any words to express how extraordinarily NORMAL I felt! I guess that probably sounds weird to the average person, but being able to do something that a "normal" walking person does, means the world to me! Being able to be WITH my kids during their adventures, instead of sitting on the sidelines just watching...It's truly, truly an amazing experience!
**Funny little side note: Nearly every time I go out on my trike, I get comments from different people in the neighborhood. EVERY one of them have been positive. Little kids want to race me or think I have a "really cool bike!", and other adults (who DON'T have any physical issues) want a tricycle just like mine. I just can't tell you enough how NICE it is to be the 'center of attention' in a POSITIVE way!**

Trouble with moving your legs? NO PROBLEM! This adult trike has that covered, as it's equipped with a motor! Have the mobility of an electric wheelchair without LOOKING like you're in a wheelchair! This is also a great option for going up hills and inclines where it might be a little tough.
"All of life is a journey. Which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there."

Bike Riding Safety Tips
Just a few reminders when riding your new adult trike!
- Wear a helmet! You're not likely to flip an adult tricycle, yourself, but you can't depend on vehicles around you to always be on the look-out for you
- Learn & know the specific bike riding laws in your area
- Take a buddy along with you, if you need a little extra support for whatever reason. There's NO shame in taking extra precautions if you feel like you need to.
- Take water bottles (and even a light snack, if you want) along on hot days. Riding a bike takes a lot of energy. You might appreciate the extra calorie boost!
- Throw a portable tire repair kit in the basket "just in case". You never know when you'll pick up a splinter or hit a rock just right that might puncture your tire.
- HAVE FUN!

- I think that could be a good alternative for a lot of people. Blessings from a SquidAngel who learned to ride a bike (not very well) at age 13 and hasn't figured out the driving thing.
I never learned to ride a bike well enough to really take it out on the highway. I got a bike for college graduation (something I asked for). If I had had enough practice, if I had a bike consistently across the years (it did get stolen) then perhaps eventually I would have gotten good enough at it to use -- I'm not sure, though. I am looking a wee bit wistfully at that trike. And I bet there are a bunch of other people who would.
