Complex Coloring Pictures for Relaxation - Crafts -Therapy - Adult Coloring
If you loved coloring pictures as a child, or you want an interesting hobby that results in a work of art, why not start coloring again as an adult? Adult coloring is fun, relaxing and good for your mind. You can stay inside the lines of coloring page drawings, or add your own artistic details and creative, colorful touches to the coloring pictures you find.
As an adult coloring artist, you can color line art pictures with crayons, colored pencils, chalk, water colors, markers or pastels. I like to get creative with my adult coloring projects. Sometimes I use my computer and a graphics editing program to add color to a drawing, then I print the picture and cut out around the coloring outlines and paste the finished pictures together to make collages. I've made all sorts of interesting posters, greeting cards and art from my adult coloring projects. Coloring page artwork makes wonderful stencils and craft patterns. Try using line art from a coloring book picture to design your own craft patterns. The simple lines and shapes of coloring pages work particularly well as craft patterns for stained glass, mosaic art, paper piecing and quilting.

There are thousands of free coloring pages available online, but many are based on cartoon characters or children's popular stories. I'm always on the lookout for new pictures and line art that's more complex - there's a big linked list of my favorite adult coloring pages in the Printables section of this lens - check 'em out, they're free!
You can create your own coloring books or coloring pages from digital photographs - it's not hard to convert a photo to a coloring page if you have a scanned photo or digital camera image plus PhotoShop or a similar program - really!
Coloring is a wonderful creative activity for therapy, relaxation or meditation. You can color pictures to keep your mind active or to quiet it down - coloring isn't just for preschoolers; in fact, adult coloring is cool!

Do you color with crayon, colored pencil, markers, or something else?
I've always been a colored pencil lover. I have markers, pastels, paints, pens and crayons galore, but my first choice to color or draw is my collection of blendable colored pencils. To get more artsy I use a bit of water on a brush to create a wash, or add outlines and details with fine line permanent ink markers. There's a wide variety of art tools, pencils and paints you can use for your adult coloring projects. Which coloring tools do you prefer?
