I've always been a colored pencil lover. I color with markers, pastels, paints, pens and crayons, but my first choice of adult coloring tools to color or draw is my collection of blendable colored pencils. To get more artsy I use a bit of water on a brush to create a wash, or add outlines and details with fine line permanent ink markers. There's a wide variety of art tools, pencils and paints you can use for your adult coloring projects.

5 Creative Ways to Use Adult Coloring Pages
Get Creative and Crafty with Free Coloring Pages
Try these ideas for creative crafts made with coloring pictures and line drawings. Adult coloring crafts are fun and artistic!1. Use line art drawings as templates for fabric crafts such as applique or embroidery. Here's another embroidery project created from a simple drawing - it's colored in with, yep, crayons.
2. Print out coloring page drawings to use as outlines for paper crafts, including pieced paper designs for cards or collages.
3. Make your own tee shirt or tote bag transfers from coloring pictures you've enlarged and printed, then color in the designs with fabric paints or heat-set crayons.
4. For a great party activity, print out several coloring sheets to assemble into a creative coloring project "wall of fame." Let guests color in the pictures (or embellish with paper, glitter and other craft findings) and add their signatures. This is fun for kids, teens and adults.

Make Coloring Pages from Digital Photos - a good tutorial from the fototiller blog. I made the coloring picture above of my granddaughter in less than 5 minutes using Photoshop.
If you don't' have Photoshop you can use DUMPR, an online tool that converts any photo into a line art sketch.
Here's a coloring picture I made by converting another photo of my granddaughter to a greyscale picture sketch using DUMPR.NET, a free online tool:

Getting Creative with Adult Coloring Pages
Make Crafts, Clip Art, Iron Ons and Craft Patterns
As an adult coloring page artist, you can color line art pictures with crayons, colored pencils, chalk, water colors, markers or pastels. I like to get creative with my adult coloring projects. Sometimes I use my computer graphics editing program to add color to a drawing, then I print the picture, cut out around the coloring outlines and paste the finished pictures together to make collages. I've made all sorts of interesting posters, greeting cards and art from my adult coloring projects. Coloring page artwork makes wonderful stencils and craft patterns.
Experiment a bit: use line art from a coloring book picture to design your own craft patterns. The simple lines and shapes of coloring pages work particularly well as craft patterns for stained glass, mosaic art, paper piecing and quilting.

- I used to color adult coloring books but not for a long time as I was wrapped up in painting, for the past year I havn't been bothered to paint as it hurts my back and does really stress me out, but I think a spot of coloring is really relaxing and fun.

- This lens/page is fantastic!! I LOVE to color, and I'm not afraid to say it. Color all kinds of things, but right now my passion is between two things--very different things actually. - I'm hoping to find some good colouring pages on here for my mum, who suffers from Alzheimer's to colour. She was, in her earlier life, a very gifted craftswoman and mapmaker, but because of her illness has limited ability now. I'll let you know how we get on!

- I like stretching an unfitted white sheet over a frame, drawing a picture, and coloring it with crayons. Then I take it off the frame, cover it with wax paper, and iron it. It really does make a very nice picture. Great lens.
