I used to color adult coloring books but not for a long time as I was wrapped up in painting, for the past year I havn't been bothered to paint as it hurts my back and does really stress me out, but I think a spot of coloring is really relaxing and fun.

This lens/page is fantastic!! I LOVE to color, and I'm not afraid to say it. Color all kinds of things, but right now my passion is between two things--very different things actually. One is Anatomy & Physiology Coloring Books, and the other is Fairy Coloring Books. At any rate, your lens page is great, lots of good info here. Thank You!!!!

I'm hoping to find some good colouring pages on here for my mum, who suffers from Alzheimer's to colour. She was, in her earlier life, a very gifted craftswoman and mapmaker, but because of her illness has limited ability now. I'll let you know how we get on!

Personally, I use coloring to unwind after a particularly hectic day. I make a nice cup of mint tea, print out some pages and curl up on the couch with my lap-desk.

I like stretching an unfitted white sheet over a frame, drawing a picture, and coloring it with crayons. Then I take it off the frame, cover it with wax paper, and iron it. It really does make a very nice picture. Great lens.

I take coloring pages to work with me. (Telephone Poll/Surveys). It's relaxing and helps me stay relaxed during my job. Then I can give them away as gifts if I want, also. The more intricate the better. Dragons, Fairies, Flowers, Mandalas, etc.

Wow, this is chock full of Adult Coloring Pages, pretty much something for everyone. I especially like the tips sections. A couple years ago I made coloring books of houses I had for sale and gave them out to kids at the open houses. It was a great marketing tool, and even made them for another Realtor in Oregon. I did it with a different program than photoshop...but with the same concept as you stated here. Excellent page for Adult Coloring Pages. *Blessed*

This looks perfect for my girlfriend. She was just talking about how she wanted to get back into art since she'd been focusing on school so much and a few of these books would be great time fillers for her.

I have always loved coloring in with the kids, and I think making a coloring sheet from a photo is a fantastic idea. About to go and make my own!
  • Swisstoons Dec 9, 2011 @ 12:56 pm | delete
Sounds like it would, indeed, be very relaxing. I've done something somewhat similar, but not nearly as artworthy, for years. And that is to open Paint, create a huge scribble of intersecting lines...and then use the paintbucket tool to rapidly fill in the shapes created with various colors. The results are rarely beautiful, nor worth saving. But somehow, it is relaxing...like doodling. What you're presenting here sounds not only relaxing, but more creative and, in many cases, no doubt worth saving. Maybe even framing!
  • Expertmom Dec 7, 2011 @ 1:22 pm | delete
So much inspiration in this lens! I used to make patterns from photos in Photoshop and I truly love coloring pages for adults as they are so helpful for smaller craft projects like creating a unique t-shirt. Great lens on a good subject!

I LOVE to color - I rediscovered it in a restaurant right before another major surgery. A little cousin had brought her coloring book and markers. She had the coloring books that are see through and look like stained glass. She invited me to color - and I was instantly hooked.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed coloring - how relaxing and satisfying it was. When I was a child, I had a book about make-up application and would use makeup to color the faces. Eventually, as an adult, I worked for a time as a makeup artist. (Was just as much fun coloring on real faces.)

After our cousin re-introduced me to the wonderful world of coloring, we went to Michael's and I bought some markers and "stained glass" style coloring books. This is how I occupied myself post-surgery. It was relaxing and stress-reducing...and FUN!

So glad to see all the resources and ideas here on your fabulous lens...and to know that there are other ADULTS who enjoy it as much as I do! - and I can finally come out of the Coloring Closet.

    Thank you!

Great lens! I'm definitely not an artist, by my oldest daughter loves to draw and I've found it to be incredibly relaxing and fun to do. The Picasso quote hit the nail on the head and touches on an even broader point - our little ones our naturally full of life, it's only when we start getting older do we seem to lose so much of our youth in so many different ways! Clearly, some of this we can't control, but there's plenty that we can if we get our minds in the right spot!

Who doesn't love to color?! Check out the coloring pages that Celestial Seasonings offers. There is a separate page for the artwork on each of the tea boxes. Pretty, detailed images: http://www.celestialseasonings.com/about/coloring-page.html/mintmagic

For serious colorers I suggest Prisma Color or Derwent colored penicls. They are pricey but blend really well to create quality pieces.

My Mom who is 88 is now enjoying her new coloring books. She has not done that since a kid. Did they have crayons in the 1920's? She is using colored pencils. She marveled at how many different pinks there was in the box.

Even though we're getting older everyday, it is important to sometimes be young at heart and let the kid inside you go out.

This is really nice. So many people give up on art after the stick figure stage, but it's really just a matter of learning a few simple things that will get your creative juices flowing again. I love this. And, yes, me and my adult friends will all sometimes sit around a color. It's nice to do something with our hands when we are chatting or waiting around.
  • careermom Apr 13, 2011 @ 9:40 am | delete

I bought some adult coloring books from my local craft store because like you said, they are not easy to find online. Thanks for writing this link. It's definitely one I am going to book mark and come back to a lot. Plus, being new to Squidoo, it's given me some great learning tips on writing lens. Thanks.
