Pirate Halloween Costumes - Be Unique This Halloween

The spine-chilling legends of pirates and the life they led has captivated many adults and children alike. It's no wonder that reading about pirates, dressing up like pirates at Halloween and reveling on their lore and legends has been a part of most children's growing up.

There's no doubt that pirates were free-spirited rogues and scallywags. They lived a life of sailing and adventure to be sure. Legends have them grabbing a bottle of rum and setting sail at night in search of gold, silver and other treasures they were sure to come upon.

It's easy to see why children have always been fascinated by the way pirates lived and dressed. From the stories that have been told it is very clear that the pirate dress was anything but uniform. Most of them wore whatever they could get their hands on whenever they needed it. Most of them wore loose fitting, mismatched clothing that resulted in the rough, carefree adventuresome look. For the children the different elements of unusual clothing has spawned many hours of living the pirates adventurous life.

As part of their clothing, most pirates, at least the ones that were part of the many pirate stories, had some particular accessories to give them that special pirate look. As a result, pirate costumes must include eye patches, hats, fake teeth with a few missing in the front and of course hooks and wooden legs. Being a pirate was a rough and dirty business. It required special tools and equipment as well as clothing. Being outfitted with special flint lock pistols and cutlasses is a must. To finish things off one needs the right hat and black or brown shoes or better yet - boots.

The last accessory I think is the most important - the earring. Any gold clip on will do the trick to add that finishing touch.

The easiest way to create the pirate look for Halloween is to start with a basic costume and add as many special accessories as you like. The good thing about a pirate costume is you can "customize" it all you want. It is so easy to take a basic costume and make it unique. It's the one costume where it's highly unlikely that there would be two that look the same.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - Pirates song. (Hoist the Colours)

READ THE DESCRIPTION! THE SO-CALLED BRACERS ARE MENTIONED A COUPLE OF TIMES! READ IT!!! UPDATE 20/11 2009: Everyone: Please STOP the discussion of these so-called bracers. It has all been said a houndred times before, there is no more material to discuss. It has all been said, it has all been flamed, you are NOT!! this cunning person with a piece of the puzzle that everyone is missing. It has been said before. It has been said before. It has been said before. It has been said before. Please stop it. UPDATE 29/10 2009: Please do not mention the bloody bracers on the bloody kid anymore. You are not this über cunning person who figured this stunningly amazing fact out as the first person in the entire world. Houndres have commented on the bracers before you, and I am afraid houndreds are yet to. Please don't, it's just annoying. UPDATE 14/10 2009: 1.3 mil. views! :O Thanks! Now, by popular request: The name of this song is Hoist the Colours. The lyrics can be found here: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hoist+the+colours+lyrics Update 5/5 2009: Wow, almost a million views! Thanks everyone :) Let's just hope the WMG doesn't remove it. Since so many of you asked, the name of this song is Hoist the Colours. No, I cannot send the song, the video or anything like that. I uploaded the video where Elizabeth sings, too, so feel free to check that out too. Thanks again! :) This is the song started by the boy and joined by the rest of the pirates sentanced to hanging. ****WARNING!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!***** I think this song might refer to the pirate "king and his men"(original brethren court) capturing "the queen"(Calypso) and binding her "in her bones"(her human form). As Captain Barbossa says later: "This is where the original Brethren Court captured Calypso and bound her in her bones." (something along those lines but the words "bound her in her bones" were definately used) "The seas be ours" as in giving over the seas to mans control now that Calypso was caught in the flesh and couldn't rule anymore. Interresting, eh?
