Advent Readings
Devotional Readings for all the days of Advent
Christmas has become so commercialized that often we forget the reason we celebrate. Perhaps it's because many aren't celebrating the Birth of Christ, they've just discovered another excuse for a party. My family and I celebrate because of Jesus. We don't get it perfect, and we often get caught up in the commercializm just like everyone else, but we try very hard to keep focused on the One whose birth we honor.
For more than 15 years, I've been creating readings for our churches to use during the advent season to help them focus on Christ and remember the real reason we celebrate this season. Each set of readings has been created to begin the first Sunday in Advent (4 Sundays before Christmas) and go through Christmas Eve. (One or two may have a Christmas morning reading).
In 2009, I began posting exerpts from these readings here on Squidoo. This page is a general listing of all the Advent Readings in one place to make them easier for folks to find. Each page below has at least four of the readings (one from each week) with links and information on how to get the entire season.
I pray they will help you and anyone who reads them remember and celebrate the One whose day it truly is. And my hope is these readings will help you give to Christ the best Birthday gift ever, the best you in Christ you can be!
Plus, If you'd like to receive the 2011 readings in your inbox daily, Fill in the form you'll find at this link. (don't worry, you can unsubscribe at any time - plus, I don't ever sell or give away e-mail addresses - I respect your privacy and am in awe that you trust me enough to give me this info!) So scroll down and have a blessed Christmas Celebration.
If you've come to this page because you're using "Jesus, Teach Me How to Pray" children's curriculum, choose one of the readings below and e-mail me the title you like best. I'll send you a free e-copy. You may make copies for your children's ministry and congregation.

"The Angels Speak" - Advent Readings
Will You Listen?
Angels are mentioned only a few times in the Bible and for some reason everyone has a fascination with them! Hebrews, as well as most of the angels themselves, remind us not to worship these created beings, but they did bring the message of Christ's birth, so let's see what they have to say!
