    Traffic exchanges should be banned. Bottomless sump in terms if time and money for the least amount of return. Don't waste your time with them

    Brilliant lens, I have learned so much here and will be taking all these tips on board. Going to try a few of them now. I work for a banner advertising company which is very good, you do pay for an advertising package but you earn twice the advertising costs back, maybe you might like to look at it.

    A lot of people advertise on business directories (a subject I'm interested in and have written about). However, today it's all about quality and choosing quality sites to advertise on.

    I really enjoyed your vote on free advertising techniques. I like using rss feeds too. Easy and costs nothing to boost up your website links. Anyway, cheap advertising is better than the expense of paying high fees.

    Great tips on free advertising! I especially love the fact that you can convert your friends into likes and have a business page now on Facebook. Your business page can be your entire web site, or articles or whatever content you want that is published online, without a duplicate content penalty. Did you know Facebook was larger than Google and surpassed Google in search traffic in March of 2010? Also, Google ranks Facebook pages very high in the search results, even higher than .edu and .gov sites, which is surprising since they are competitors. What this tells me is if you have a business page on Facebook, and get in on their traffic, you can show up on Google, and take in traffic from two of the largest sites in the world! Don't have a business page? Convert your personal profile "friends" into "likes" very easily and watch your business grow!

    I was very pleased to find this site. I wanted to thank you for this great post. The standard rule of business is that it is easier to keep a satisfied customer than it is to gain a new one. For this reason it is vital to have excellent customer service in any business. Satisfied customers are the least expensive form of advertising for small business. They will frequently tell friends and family about the wonderful products or services they have received and it can bring in a cost-free flow of new clients who are already predisposed to purchase products. Remember that the opposite is also true though. A customer who is unhappy will be sure to tell everyone their opinion.

    Mobile advertising is definitely the way to go!! This lens has great content and good advice. For me, the best results I have ever gotten, have been from mobile marketing. Everyone answers their phone, checks their voice mail, and views their texts. I have been using lead extraction software with a built in broadcast system to find leads and make the initial contact to potential customers. The response is through the roof and it is FREE. Just buy the software one time, and find all the leads you will ever need! Within minutes I can send out my message via phone, email, or direct mail, to 1000's of potential customers in my target market.

    Back links from Forums is not the most highly rated by search engines, but they do play an important part in the variety of back links your site acquires. If you post good info on niche related Forums, you can realise a good amount of targeted traffic. It's all about being natural in the eyes of the search engines these days. Many thanks for comment.

    For me Blogging is working very well, Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo, Google Buzz (almost in this order, Blogging being the best ever. )

    I'm just starting out, and SEO is working pretty good for getting me indexed so far. Articles are doing their fair share as well. No sales as of yet but like I said I just started. Like the lens , informative.

    You have done a really nice job on this lens! SEO and backlink building is the only thing that works all that well for me with the exception of a few good free traffic site listed at my lens which has SEO tips and the Best Free Advertising I have found online.

    Interesting lens! I enjoy seeing other people's ideas and seeing how they mesh with my ideals and goals. Squidoo can be, in itself a great marketing tool. It's the blogging set up that I have trouble with...lol.

    I love that you stated the importance of putting emphasis on your customers. Have written and taught courses on this and yet, it seems to need to be restated over and over.
